I got married at Melville Castle in May 2009 and it was perfect! The venue was stunning. The food was out of this world. The staff were really helpful and very friendly. We all stayed there the night before the wedding and the wedding night as well. Staff ordered us taxis as we wanted to to go to Dalkeith for... more

Booked the new year Package at Melville Castle to experience a Scottish New Year. Beautiful grounds and an impressive Castle with an excellent location 10 mins from Edinburgh. We wanted to stay in a Suite but they were booked so we had a superior room. This was fine although nothing special apart from a nice view over the Gardens. Bit... more

As a treat for my birthday my fiancée booked us into Melville Castle for an overnight stay. What a treat it was, the food was sublime. the wine, while a little expensive, was very nice. The atmosphere was very romantic. The room very nice and well laid out with the bed situated upstairs. I have to say it was the... more

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights midweek in late October, and loved the location, the welcoming and helpful receptionist (sorry forgotten her name!), and the very comfortable standard room (we were offered an upgrade but actually liked our large room overlooking the gardens more). As the many comments already posted indicate, this place is popular for weddings and... more

Took friends from Canada for dinner on 14/10/08, had a really nice time, castle was warm and cosy, staff were excellent, food was lovely, my total food and drink bill was £200 less tip. The evening was perfect until it came to coffee time and my wife who does not drink always enjoys nice coffee unfortunately it was served in... more

Stayed at Melville Castle Hotel last weekend for my cousins wedding, a warm and inviting entrance with an open fire and a lovely smell of the wood burning. Our room was very comfortable, although there is a bit of damp on the ceiling just outside the bathroom, which really wouldn't take much to sort out, and it didn't look like... more

Had our wedding here last weekend and I can't praise the staff enough. The rooms were lovely, the food amazing and we were treated like royalty for the whole weekend. A few hiccups with rooms allocations during the planning and upon checking out, but nothing serious and its easily corrected. Feedback from our guests suggest that it was the best... more

We held our wedding reception at Melville and the staff were efficient and friendly right up to the wedding - it felt very organised. On the day it went smoothly and we got a warm welcome as did our guests. We stayed in room 11 which is the bridal suite and it was lovely. I think everyone enjoyed their stay... more

Melville Castle was extremely disappointing. It did not provide the "Castle Experience." We arrived in the evening, tired after a very long drive. We were also hungry. The hotel is secluded. A very long narrow driveway leads to the hotel entrance. We were looking forward to getting settled in our rooms and then having a relaxing dinner at the hotel's... more
