Thank you to the moorings Hotel and staff for a very comfortable stay. Despite a mix-up with our initial requirements (for their best room) the Manager came to the rescue and we are confident we got the best. A complimentary bottle of wine was offered by means of recompense but really wasn't neccessary (we drank it anyway, and the rest)... more

We stayed in Room 29 of this hotel and it is really the worse room we have ever had. There was a small recessed window that let in no light and no view. The bed was creaking when you just sat on it as there was only one chair in the room. None of the furniture matched and no two... more

We stayed at a nearby B&B (Quaich Cottage -- highly recommended) and stopped at the Moorings Hotel for dinner. It offers good food, a selection of single malts. The service is quite prompt and friendly. Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting the area. more

We were recommended this place by our B&B, so decided to have a bar meal. The bar was dull, old and tired the same as our waitress, who reminded us of Mrs Overall from Victoria Woods Achorn Antiques sketch and constantly kept asking us if we were staying in the hotel in lots of different ways. The food was extremely... more

Nice hotel with friendly staff located in a superb area. The only problem is it's too expensive. Rooms are OK, a renovation of the hotel will be needed very soon if the hotel wants to keep its high prices... We ate at the restaurant which is ok; the chef apparently does not know what "medium - rear" means, but otherwise... more

A small pleasant hotel in a nice location about a mile (2km) north of Fort William. Some rooms overlooking Neptune's Staircase which is a set of nine locks on the canal. I understand from some rooms you can see Ben Nevis. The room was clean and looked as it had recently been refurbished. The only negative thing I can think... more

This hotel was some way out of town, however the location next to the canal was nice. Good base for a few days travelling around. Food at hotel was good but by no means amazing. more

We stayed at the Moorings for 2 nights on our recent holiday touring the Scottish Highlands. The hotel is set in a lovely quiet area about 2 miles from the centre of Fort William. Behind the hotel is the Caledonian Canal and Neptune's Staircase, (ladder of eight locks) with some lovely walks and views of Ben Nevis. The hotel is... more

Booked two nights in a room with a double bed , which turned out to be two singles pushed together with what must be the most uncomfortable pillows known to humankind . The overnight sleeper train from London was more comfortable than this ! Ordered lamb shanks from the bar menu which was ok , but no mint sauce .... more

We didn't actually stay, but were recommended it by our B&B host. Firstly we will make allowances for the bank holiday weekend, but we decided to go & grab a bar meal as we thought this would be a nice place to eat. When you walk into the bar it reminded us of a 1980's Bernie Inn, in fact it... more
