The hotel rooms are not worth the money. We did not eat at the restaurant, so I cannot comment on the food but I generally agree with the reviews regarding the rooms. The hotel is far too expensive for what it is. Upon check out we told the owner that it's too pricey and there was no reaction from him.... more

Yes, the food is really superb, outstanding. The staff - didn't see the owners - were helpful. But the rooms! At almost £200 a night you expect much, much better than this. They would be a bit expensive even at half the price. Definitely will never go back, despite the food more

We stayed here with our 2 children for 1 night. As with most of the other reviews posted here I agree food is seriously good, but at about £40 a head (£18 for the children), it should be. The view from the dining room is hard to match. The service was good. Simply a stunning dining experience. BUT the room... more

As a Scot living abroad I found this hotel to be wonderfully atmospheric and reminiscent of an old Scottish shooting lodge. The living room had wonderful overstuffed sofas (plumped up by the staff at frequent intervals) and the sun room dining area, although unusually hot due to the sun streaming in the windows, had views second to none. Mountains reaching... more

I will start with what is good about the hotel, it has lovely food and one member of good staff. She was a cleaner and very pleasant. Now here comes the list of bad things. When we were eating our breakfast in the morning , our peace was ruined by what seemed to be the boss flapping at one of... more

My wife and I stayed here first in 2005, and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was excellent, and the staff were very helpful if a little brusque. We decided to go back for part of our honeymoon in 2006, and they really let themselves down. We arrived in the morning on the sleeper train, as I'm sure many people must... more

The hotel is situated on the banks of Loch Lochy with spectacular views of the loch and surrounding mountains. We were lucky that it was sunny when we arrived so could sit outside and enjoy the view with a very welcome drink following a drive up through Glen Coe (magnificent!) from Edinburgh. Our room was quite small and, despite being... more

We had high expectations after seeing the hotel on the web-site and in the Johansens guide. On arrival the hotel (sorry lodge!) looked shabby and run-down, with derelict garden furniture. The allocated room - double with loch view requested - was small with a single wardrobe and a very restricted view. We were told the rooms were smaller because this... more
