massachusetts, USA The hotel has a very picturesque setting on the loch. Its appearance is initially impressive. Entering the lobby, a large staircase, an inviting sitting room and quaint library hold promise. However, once you ascend the staircase and head to the new wing, the hotel begins to dissappoint. A maize- like walk leads you up stairs, through several corriders... more

Stayed here on a driving tour around Scotland in April 2008. This was our first night after driving from Edinburgh, through the amazing Glencoe. Check in was painless and even had a chat with the 'Godmother'!. Staff very friendly on arrival. Room was nice and I would agree with other reviewers that while not modern/plush they have a certain chic.... more

After driving through the magnificent Glencoe, I found myself at the Ballachulish (or should that be Balla-hellish?) Hotel. The location of the hotel is inspiring, underneath the suicide bridge of Lochaber, Ballachulish Bridge, yet the car parking facilities leave a lot to be desired. I had a large van with me at the time, and had to leave it at... more

To get to the Ballachulish Hotel from the South you inevitably travel through Glencoe and if you have never been there before then, like ourselves, you will be totally blown away at the sights that greet you. The majesty of the mountains combined with the mists encountered at this time of year make this place almost magical. Therefore as you... more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast deal. We booked a loch view room and were not disappointed by the view. We were greeted at reception with a big smile and were promptly checked in. After getting settled into the room, which was very nice, we headed to the sister hotel, Isles... more

The hotel is lovely - located on the shores of Loch Linnhe and Loch Leven and right by Glencoe. The hotel is lovely with wood panelling and lovely staff, who were very helpful and provided great service. The restaurant serves wonderful food - although a little pricey, defintely value for money - the seafood pot is delicious and definitely for... more

Totally agree with Ally_Dunn review of 13 Nov 07. This hotel's web site promises much but the photographs give a picture that, in our experience, simply does not exist. We stayed here for only one night, thankfully, in a two month trip around five countries and are long term, experienced travellers. I can only describe our experience here as an... more

We stayed in the hotel over Christmas. The rooms are cosy and comfortable and one can enjoy a great view on the lake, if you have a lake view room. Furniture is old but noch dowdy. The service was good as well. The staff is very friendly, however very busy, which might be possilby due to reduced resources during Christmas.... more

Just arrived home from an overnight stay at this hotel. The Hotel is very old fashioned and quaint. The atmosphere is very relaxing and cosy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a room in the annexe which met all of our needs. The dining room was very well run, the food was absolutely excellent and we could not... more

Just back from Ballachulish Hotel and loved it. That said, the room was a bit on the cosy side (small) and I'd describe the decor in our room (old room on second floor) as shabby chic which had a certain charm, however the staff and food were really very good and made for a relaxing and pleasant stay. We only... more
