Possibly my favourite holiday ever. It is a small and friendly hotel and pub in the picturesque Black Isle. We ate dinner in the hotel four nights out of the five we stayed there, because it was so tempting. The menu featured restaurant quality dishes made with fresh local produce. We found the hotel through CAMRA's Good Beer Guide, so... more

We stayed at the Anderson for a few days at the beginning of September in room 1 with a four poster bed. At £85 per room per night (inc breakfast) the price was fair. The room was clean and the bathroom included a huge bath and nice double shower. The whole is place furnished in an 'olde worlde' style and... more

stayed one night after business trip Stayed in far far worse food was really good and bar has nice atmosphere. The room decor is rather tired and old fashioned for my tastes but to be fair clean. more

This was our third stay at the Anderson and, as usual, we came away most impressed. This time we stayed in Room 1 which has a 4 poster - this room has a shower with a double sized cubicle and a separate roll-top bath - and in which other hotel would you find an old Victorian fireplace in the bathroom... more

We booked a few days in this family run hotel in March 1997. I had stayed there before, and liked its friendly atmosphere. "Mein host" is a genial Yank escaping from Philadelphia with young family. His wife is in charge of the catering, but they also have permanent chefs,. It has a great public bar with open welcoming fire and... more

Of all the memorable hotels I’ve visited in Britain, The Anderson in Fortrose near Inverness is the one I’m most eager to return to. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail of owners, Jim and Anne Anderson set this nine-room hotel apart. We were treated with such warmth and thoughtfulness we felt like favorite friends. Our room was quite pleasant with... more

My wife and I stayed at The Anderson with our son and we were absolutely delighted at the beautiful location and excellent service we received. The food was terrific, with outstanding menu items each day. The beer, whisky and wine menue was extraordinary and the prices for food and beverage were not high at all. What's more, the place is... more

I'll be back again and again. A lovely little inn with an excellent restaurant & friendly bar. They use local ingredients with a world view of cuisine. This should get a Michelen Star for its food. The bar has over 200 whiskys from which to choose. They range from the local distillery to some of the rarest whisky in all... more

The emphasis on fresh local food with excellant presentation was a welcome surprise during my three day stay. I didn't find any other restaurants in the area that came close in quality and service. Great location for touring the Black Isle and the Inverness area. more

We found this to be a very disappointing dining experience. The food was average to say the least. The dining room is in need of several repairs. The crockery and cutlery looks as if it has come from a car boot sale - nothing matches. We would certainly not return - there are plenty of better places to dine out... more
