We stayed in the Columba recently for a combined shopping trip and two night birthday stay. We booked our stay as a special offer at just under £35 per night per person per night through the Scotsman newspaper. Overall we were very satisfied with the value for money. The two ladies on reception as we arrived and left were very... more

We stayed here for a 40th Birthday. To start with they had messed up our booking so instead of having a meal in the restaurant for the first night we had to go in the bistro which was disappointing as we wanted it to be special through out the stay. The meal was nice but the service was amateur and... more

My wife and I stayed at the Columba for two nights as part of a Globus tour. We had specified a double room. We ended up with two single beds in a room the size of a broom closet. The toilet would only flush intermittently and the mattresses were pitifully thin. The management was indifferent and unhelpful and even the... more

room on website was nothing like the room given to us.Room was tiny with a tiny bath in a tiny bathroom!! Windows were as old as the hills and in need of a good lick of paint as were the walls that were peeling. The welcoming page in the room states that it's a 4 star hotel...they must have missed... more

I was travelling as part of a group of Single people aged 60-75. I had previously asked for a room with easy access as I have a slight walking difficulty, particularly stairs. On arrival I was allocated a room on the 3rd floor and after leaving the lift, I was faced with a further flight of about 10 more stairs.... more

We stayed for two nights, Friday and Saturday in mid-September, in the Columba Hotel in Inverness. Travelling by rail, we walked easily between the station and the hotel. The hotel is located by the river opposite the castle and we arrived on a beautiful sunny day. The receptionist was pleasant, attractive and efficient. Our room was on the top floor... more

We arrived at 1pm and were told we could not check in until 3pm we needed to get showered, changed and be at our destination for 3pm, but it seemed like the staff could not care less. Once we finally got checked in the rooms were dirty - I don't mind a bit of dust, but pubes in the shower... more

The only redeeming feature of this hotel was the location. It is right across from the castle, and within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Our main issue is the false advertising. This may have once been a 4-start hotel, but I wonder if it could even claim 2 stars now. There is no parking. You have to... more

Found reception stuff were not very polite or friendly and to be honest didn't seem particularly interested. Rooms were shabby and far too hot. The only plus points were location and breakfast. more
