I stayed here in Mid- June with my parents, and brother on a grown-up family trip. This hotel was nice in a good location, the girl at the front desk was very helpful and our rooms were clean. We had no complaints of this hotel and had one of the most spacious and nicest bathrooms I saw in our whole... more

Arrived at the Smithton Hotel and my heart fell through the floor as I took in the sight of the very dowdy, ugly and generally disgusting hotel in front of me. Our reservation had been double-booked and we were told they would honour ou r booking. I was told to leave and come back at three o'clock (it was 2.30pm).... more

One of the worst hotels I have stayed in for a long time. The image on the website is very flattering - do not be fooled. This is like a flash back to the 1970's and I do not think the rooms have been decorated since. Small dark and pokey rooms - looked awful. The restauarant is part of the... more

This is without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in . The rooms are tiny the decor is terrible and the walls so thin that if someone breaks wind the whole floor will hear them . The only plus point was the breakfast was acceptable . I think I would sooner stay in a caravan . more

We stayed for 2 nights at the Smithton in June and were immediately disappointed by the appearance of the hotel from the outside and the location. The images on the internet do not reflect the actual hotel, which is quite run-down and situated on a not very appealing housing estate. If you want to go anywhere decent for dinner you... more

We booked an easter weekend break with our two children based on the website stating "Games Room" and "Family Friendly".......big mistake. The Games Room is a no child go area as it is accessed via the bar. Such a big mistake infact that we did not stay. The one positive thing I will say is that the manager on duty... more

Stayed at the Smithton Hotel for the third time. We really enjoy it here, and find the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, and the food good, especially breakfast! Yeah, the entertainment from the bars can be heard in the rooms at times, but this is the same in most hotels. The thing to do would be to go... more

Room was larger than expected, room was well appointed and the ensuite was in mint condition. The two bars on the ground floor of the hotel are very good and the owners, locals and staff are all very friendly, you will never feel alone. I would recommend their breakfast to anyone. It still goes down as the best breakfast I... more

Booked the hotel on the internet. Unfortunately it was of a very basic standard. Set in the middle of a housing estate and was used extensively by the locals. Breakfast ok but dinner was a once only experience. We were booked for 6 nights but had to move out after 3. Two nights we were subjected to very loud music... more

Booked into hotel for weekend to see eclipse, and enjoyed ourselves very much. There was a wedding on in the lounge bar, so we spent the evening in the public bar, next door, and what a laugh we had with the local clientele in there. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes an informal atmosphere, with friendly staff, nice... more
