After complaining about our first room we were upgraded to an Executive Room. The room was lovely but we were kept awake but a lot of noise from other guests and street noise. Check in was 3pm and we did try to check in at 230pm and were told it was too early so we waited, we tried again at... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and we found the hotel staff very unfriendly. Check in was quick, theres your key theres the stairs now get going. I had to ask where the lift was even though you can see II am diisabled. Was not impressed at breakfast wasn't included. Would we stay there again, definitely not!

Very central hotel, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. Next door to the railway station, and only a few yards further to the bus station, where the Citybus tours start. Good food in the Ash restaurant, but even better food in the CastleTavern, just 5 minutes away and opposite the castle.

Thank you for the review and we shall definitely try to communicate with Nessie about your concern this time! While Ash remains one of the most popular eateries in Inverness and in which all our resident guests get a special offer, but being located in the City Centre, you also get a wide choice of restaurants and cuisines to choose... We stayed here with friends at the start of a road trip and the hotel fit our needs nicely. A very central location the hotel was nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Decor and setup is classic Scottish complete with tartan carpets, stag head, and decent Scotch menu from the bar. Breakfast gave decent options for a... More

We loved our stay here. Being right next to the railway station we just had to step out of the station and there the hotel was. Because we were there during a quiet period our hosts upgraded us to a four poster bed room, which was fantastic. The bed was so high off the ground I could sit on the... More

A very good hotel experience! Love the reception hall with its comfy chairs and stairs. It has some of that old grandness. Great big rooms. The staff were nice especially at breakfast, I felt that I was taken care of. Breakfast was great too. Hotel fire alarm went off at 4 at night when we where sleeping. That's a bit... More

5 of us stayed dinner bed and breakfast on a business trip. I will definitely return. I love all the antiques and the original fittings. The single room was small however this is not a grumble it was comfortable and had everything that I needed. I will book a larger one next time so I can have a double bed.... More

We stayed here for one night, and talk about value for money! The hotel is old, but I found the character very quaint and almost cute in parts, like an old house with character and charm. The location is ideal. The room was a very good size, as was the bathroom and it was spotlessly clean. The bed and bedding was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Royal Highland Hotel is the oldest hotel in the centre of the Highland capital, Inverness. In 2000, the property was carefully restored, retaining its unique character associated with the bygone age. As soon as you enter the hotel you will appreciate this. In the foyer the grand staircase, the inspiration for the Titanic's staircase, leads to the 84 spacious refurbished bedrooms - all with very high ceilings. The decor is rich with traditional furniture and deep colours. The rooms all have soft furnishings and antique style furniture. The excellent bathrooms are generally medium to large in size. For over 151 years, the hotel has been looking after travellers from all over the world. Perhaps its popularity stems from the fact the hotel is a grand place to stay. Large bedrooms, large lounge areas, quiet meeting rooms, good food, prime location and friendly staff all play their part. All local amenities close to hand, but within a 5 minute drive you are out into the dramatic Highlands. Lochness is only 7 miles from the hotel. ... more   less
