This is a lovely old stone-built house with big rooms, nice furniture and a large, very comfortable bed (in the front-room upstairs, at least). Margaret's friendly hospitality makes her the perfect host and we found her husband's in-depth knowledge of places to go made for some spectacularly enjoyable visits. You could hardly wish for a more pleasant, peaceful place to... More

Our family recently stayed at the Highfield House. I think it was the best B&B in all our travels in Scotland. The owner, Margaret, has obviously been in the hospitality field for a long time. She was terrific from the time we checked in to the time we checked out. Our room was stocked with everything from scented hair products... More

My husband, brother, parents, and I took off on the adventure of a lifetime back in October of 2011. (I meant to review our stay here right after we returned home, but obviously I forgot. I had to select April 2013 which was the oldest date I could select.) Inverness was one of the last places on our list, but... More

We got here during the Loch Ness Marathon which caused the city to be fully packed!!! We found this B&B after an hour of traveling around the city in order to find an available spot to sleep with a reasonable price. We got a room at the ground floor, the room was big enough but with a lot of old... More

I forgot to review this place by November 2012. Margaret and Kenny are running this place incredibly. Within about a 20 minute walk of town, but an easy walk. Rooms were kept very clean. The traditional Scottish breakfast was amazing and superb. I was staying on my own and I felt very comfortable staying with them. The even let me... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in September after finding them listed in"Scotland's Best B&B's." We were not disappointed! From the start Margaret was very welcoming ( to the point of rescuing us when we got lost going through one too many roundabouts trying to find Highland house). She told us to stay put, and in short... More

I stayed for 4 nights at Highfield. It was a very positive experience. The room was lovely and was very clean. The breakfasts were very good. I have never had blueberries and raspberries together but they are rather nice. The cooked breakfast was excellent and Margaret and Ken were on hand to provide information and to have a chat. Margaret... More

I have used this B & B for business and short breaks on a number of occasions over the last few years and it has always been excellent. Really nice rooms and facilities, pristine conditions, comfortable beds and a very relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast is also superb with a wide variety of choice. Easy walking distance to the town centre... More

We stayed over on our way from Isle of Skye to Edinburgh (via Loch Ness of course). Hostess was very pleasant and accomodating. Breakfast was in a lovely sitting/dining room, good parking and good directions and dining recommendations. Rooms clean and comfortable. A bit of a walk into town (20 minutes) but pleasant in good weather.

After two weeks of camping we decided to sleep one night in a B&B. We had booked the place before, otherwise I am sure it would've been fully booked. We were received very friendly and shown our room. The room was equipped with everything that you need, a bed, a bathroom, a tv, a water boiler to make tea and... More
