Whilst visiting Caithness we decided to do something different. This was to have afternoon tea in the beautiful Ackergill Tower. We were all speechless from the time we drove up to it. We were shown into the lovely Morning Room where we were treated to a first class tea with champagne. The service was second to none with just the... More

Still has all its original looks and quirks but with warm and airy rooms, hot powerful shower, fantastic food both evening and breakfast. You will need a lie down after the fresh croissant and cooked breakfast. However, the Jewel is the staff - felt very welcome and very much cared for. Windows in the lounges looking on to the sea... What a wonderful venue and such a comfortable hotel - the rooms were old time luxury , the food and wines excellent ( and a good selection of whiskies ) and the service very personable and five star . This is at the very end of the U.K. and worth the trip . The Manager Marcel was very accommodating and... More

We only planned to stay for 1 night but extended to 2 as it is such an amazing place. We had a wonderful room with an amazing view. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent. we will definitely stay here again.

A converted old castle with outstanding views and pleasant countryside. The staff were very nice and the food was good. But we were a bit disappointed with the standard of the rooms. Sadly it gives the appearance of a five star hotel which is struggling to make ends meet.

This is our second time at Ackergill Tower and again it exceeds our expectations. We stayed for three nights and stayed in the wonderful Cherub room. This beautiful room is really spacious and although it was really windy when we were there the window did rattle a bit but nothing more than can be expected. Jackie, Curtis and the staff... More

Our room was well presented and very comfortable. The food was excellent - in particular, our evening meal was exceptional. The tower had many "quirky" aspects to it, which greatly added to the enjoyment of our stay.

An excellent place to visit & very atmospheric. We just stayed one night and found it very comfortable & had a great breakfast. I think that the castle is used a lot for conferences/weddings etc so be aware that if it is booked up then you may be in the 'tower'. We didn't mind at all but if you are... More

Really amazing and unusual place to stay, got it for a really good price at short notice and we were wowed by the Tree House...an actual Tree House by the way. When we booked we were advised that the hotel was going to be closed on the day of our arrival as the staff were going to be on a... More

What a fantastic place. We stayed for two nights in the princess royal suite in the tower. Amazing views over the sea, comfortable big beds, spacious room. Could do with a plug near the dressing table. We also had dinner here, food was excellent. It is a very limited menu but delicious. Breakfast was also good. Juices, tea, coffee, cereals and pastries available as self service.... More
