From the beginning of our stay until the end I wished I was anywhere else. The staff were either absent or surly - particularly unhelpful were the kitchen staff, coupled with the wait staff. I guess if there was anywhere else to stay in Wick, it would automatically get rave reviews. more

Thank you for your comments and may I apologise for the bad experience you had whilst staying at the Norseman. These are not the standards that Oxford Hotels and Inns seek to attain and I would hope that if you choose to stay with us again you would notice a remarkable difference to your previous visit.”

From outside the hotel looks bad, a grey dowdy 1970's style building. Inside, with the heating on full, it was better, almost cosy . The hotel is adjacent to a car park and rooms facing it might be a bit noisy, a small supermarket is opposite the hotel and there a great river walk . I stayed at the Norseman,... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't fault it. It may not be a 4/5 star hotel but the staff were 5 star. They were all very pleasant and nothing was too much bother for the dining room staff. The food was lovely, nice and homely and though the rooms are quite basic they were adequate. We will definately... more

We had hassle from the beginning. Booked a double room, recieved a twin. Informed the reception and was informed thats all that was available when I booked, it was either that or nothing. Food was good apart from our main course. I did enjoy breakfast. Overall, poor customer service and inexperienced staff more

Having reserved four single rooms we managed to get three after a lot of negotiation, one of our party was moved to another hotel. An old lady waited in reception for nearly an hour for her room. Another couple were sent to Thurso for theirs. Bar staff rude, breakfast in the morning served by some surly teenager with little or... more

After a long drive from Skye we arrived at The Norseman to be welcomed warmly by the staff. We found the Norseman to be a charming and cosy hotel, and the room was superb. We dined in the restaurant which provided us with a very nice meal coming from a kichten with a very loud radio. We had a few... more

I recently stayed at the Norseman Hotel in Wick from the 19th to the 21st of September 2006. From my arrival at the hotel I realised a complete dysfunctional attitude towards the smooth running of a ‘Swallow’ hotel. After checking in I was advised that there would be food available in the bar up to 9pm, after trying to place... more

Good food, excellent friendly service, clean rooms and good value for money. Also included in our three day break was a day trip to Orkney - well worth a visit. Special thanks to the front desk staff who helped with a motoring 'difficulty'. Highly recommended. more

Wick is in a quiet portion of Scotland so it was nice to find a hotel the provided us with everything we needed. The food was a bit ho-hum but the staff was pleasant and the location good. Only steps away from what passes as downtown. more
