Was a bit unsure about booking the Norseman after reading previous comments but booked 3 single rooms (which were actually doubles) at a very good price. The hotel is a bit run down and doesn't seem to have had much investment in it recently but it has recently been taken over by a couple of local businessmen who want to... more

This so-called hotel doesn't merit even 1 star! Located in the quaint town of Wick, the Norseman has missed every opportunity to be an excellent inn. From the receptionist who was more intent on eating her potato chips than greeting guests, to shabby rooms and sub-standard food, this was a 2-night stop that our group should not have had to... more

When I knew I would be having my 3rd stay at the Norseman, I decided I should review my last stay from my diary. It was good to see Management had read my poor review. I hoped things would be improved. I had no option but to stay again at this hotel. There has been some improvement - at least... more

I have stayed in some poor hotels in my life, but none compared to this dump! The Norseman is a flea-pit with no redeeming qualities, apart form its location and that must have happened by mistake. Where to begin? Upon entry to the establishment, it had a very heavy stink of a commercial beer fridge. Very off-putting; but then so... more

Totally run down and that's just the staff. Frozen food at evening meal. It was disgusting. There were jugs of warm water on the table and there was no ice when we requested some. Breakfast was poor and half cold. Can't think of anything good to say about it. We couldn't believe it was an Oxford Inn. Avoid at all... more

From outside the hotel looks bad, a grey dowdy 1970's style building. Inside, with the heating on full, it was better, almost cosy . The hotel is adjacent to a car park and rooms facing it might be a bit noisy, a small supermarket is opposite the hotel and there a great river walk . I stayed at the Norseman,... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't fault it. It may not be a 4/5 star hotel but the staff were 5 star. They were all very pleasant and nothing was too much bother for the dining room staff. The food was lovely, nice and homely and though the rooms are quite basic they were adequate. We will definately... more

We had hassle from the beginning. Booked a double room, recieved a twin. Informed the reception and was informed thats all that was available when I booked, it was either that or nothing. Food was good apart from our main course. I did enjoy breakfast. Overall, poor customer service and inexperienced staff more

Having reserved four single rooms we managed to get three after a lot of negotiation, one of our party was moved to another hotel. An old lady waited in reception for nearly an hour for her room. Another couple were sent to Thurso for theirs. Bar staff rude, breakfast in the morning served by some surly teenager with little or... more
