The Mackays hotel in wick is a really nice hotel with friendly staff. We stayed in November for our second wedding anniversary. The staff gave us a room upgrade on arrival and our room was large and clean. The hotel had a large party in that night and the staff went out there way to ensure we had a good... more

First time I have stayed here, as I usually stay with my grandparents, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how large my twin room was! Room was nicely decorated, very clean and had a lovely view over the river. The shower was amazing - very powerful! Super fast wireless availale in the hotel free of charge... more

This hotel doesn't look like much from the outside - and even inside the decor can look a wee bit 'tired' in places to be honest- but those are superficialities. The essence of this hotel is the friendly personal service from a 'hands-on' owner and a first class staff team - and EXCELLENT food in the Bistro. My only complaint... more

Arrival We phoned the hotel to advise that we were running late on our drive and wouldn't check in until after 7pm, lovely and friendly on the phone. Arrived just after 7pm,... more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on 4th and 5th September. We found the staff and owner to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel was extremely clean throughout as was our bedroom and ensuite bathroom. Perhaps the bed was a little short for my husband who is very tall but we have come across this in much... more

Arrived full of anticipation and greeted well at reception. Room reasonable but beds too narrow and decor quite dark and old fashioned. View from window was of River Wick but not very nice. Had read good reports of restaurant but found it to be ordinary. Salmon and chicken were both overcooked and dry, for which there is no excuse. It... more

The room was quite small, but very clean, tidy, and efficient. The elevator was a nice surprise. No A/C, but it's probably only rarely needed at the northern tip of Scotland. Excellent food and service for evening meals as well as breakfast. For a small hotel in a small town, it exceeded our expectations. more

I stopped in the Bistro at Mackays for a bowl of soup.I was served what could only be discribed as an average bowl of Scotch broth, [certainly nothing special] and some tasty brown bread. The cost for that was £4.25.!! In what is to be the year of the Homecoming for visitors,I think most people would consider these prices to be... more

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry you were disappointed with your soup. We have fed your comments back to the chef. Regarding the price however, the only soup we have at that price is our Cullen Skink and we receive complimentary feedback on that every time. If you could email me on info@mackayshotel.co.uk with the date you...

Fantastic small hotel, wonderful rooms with fantastic free WiFi throughout (it was quite fast). Staff were all courteous and friendly, the room was small, but not unpleasantly so, and very comfortable. No 1. Bistro was surprisingly good, some of the best beef dishes ever, made with local ingredients. I would be remiss if I did not mention the Cullen Skink,... more
