We arrived at the hotel and was greeted by the hotel owner Murray, we were staying overnight then traveling to Orkney for part of the gathering. He suggested we rearranged our luggage so we would only have to take one suitcase and he would hold everything else and it would be in our room when we returned three days later... More

Our room overlooked the water, and was very quiet, clean, and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was quite nice, as well as the bar. Walking to everything was easy. We really enjoyed the Wick Heritage Museum not far away, which explained the history of this quaint and lovely town.

Have stayed a few times and always found it clean, comfortable and a great base for exploring Wick & Caithness. Breakfast has some good local options like poached haddock and the bar has some great local ales.

We stayed at Mackays for 1 night during a trip across the Highlands. The hotel is clean but dated in decor. The outside appearance doesn't look too inviting on first impression. The owner was present overseeing his staff morning and night which was nice too see. We booked our evening meal with reception and unfortunately there were no reservations for... More

Dear Mr Just-so-Jones Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I would like to apologise for the service you have reported in your review. Unfortunately when guests arrive late for tables or take longer than anticipated this can have a knock on effect with other bookings. Regarding your order, you don’t mention if you raised it with... First of all, we did not stay over night, we had come for lunch. I must say it was delicious! But the staff was very rude, such as getting mad at our party for wanting to change drinks. A member of our party tried to help the waitress move the table, but she backed away with and attitude and an... More

Dear bill_dorito I am very sorry you did not receive our usual Mackays Magic welcome and service. I would be grateful if you would email me direct on ellie@mackayshotel.co .uk and let me know what day you were in for lunch so I can make sure this does not happen again. Great to hear you enjoyed your meals at lunch!... More

Business trip, room fairly small but comfortable. Restaurant was excellent, both for evening dinner and breakfast following morning, with reasonably priced food cooked to a high standard. Good location. Staff were friendly. Would recommend if staying in wick.

Friendly helpful reception. Single rooms comfortable although very small, and comparatively expensive for B&B - though it must be said that the breakfast is very good!. A smart restaurant, and an excellent, popular bistro which we made use of for both lunch and dinner. Parking on the street outside.

Dear DBR43 Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel. I'm not sure which room you were in however having been built in 1883 we do have different sizes of rooms. Great to hear you enjoyed the food and that the staff looked after you! Hope to see you again Kind regards Ellie Lamont More

Mackay's Hotel was superb. Friendly staff, fresh decor, and immaculately clean - with even a small decanter of sherry and two glasses as a 'welcome' drink in the bedroom. Its price may seem higher than some, but it's worth every penny, with its crisp, white linens, a bistro menu that covers all the bases, and many little touches that make... More

It was wet the day we arrived so we were glad of the warm welcome, excellent room and then superb dining experience. Bar area lovely too, with excellent range of scotches and liqueurs. The hotel is officially on the shortest street - it';s across the front entrance!

Dear Ranipuss Thank you for your review and glad you appreciated our Mackays Magic! Dear sote1234 How nice to read your feedback as a diner! Glad you enjoyed the food, our chefs will be very pleased to read your comments. From your description you must be speaking of Murray, and yes, he has been an owner for nearly 30 years now. I agree the stroma liqueur is special and if you get the chance... More
