After reading the reviews on here we were dubious. BUT! It's a hostel, not a hotel, not a fancy guest house or boutique b&b! So just don't stay here if that is what you are looking for! Who cares if you have to check in in a chip shop?! The room was clean and the kitchen area is big and... More

All the negative reviews about the filthy and smelly state of the pace are true so I'm not bothering to detail that. I stayed in room 3 at the top of the fire escape,a room which is accessed by 2 doors, an outer leading directly onto the stairs and an inner which opens into the room. When I arrived the... More

Stayed two nights in October en-suite double room clean and with a tv. well equipped kitchen facilities and wifi/tv common room.well situated in centre of town its not luxurious but is a backpackers hostel at the end of the day and is half the price of other Thurso accommodation.staff friendly basic diy breakfast (toast /cereal)provided and unlimited tea/coffee all day.

Hostels are always a gamble, but if you're in a bind and desperate to put your head down - normal decision making paradigms in terms of room & board go out the window. Yes, checking in at a chip shop is incongruous but we turned up out of the blue (11 of us) and were accommodated well enough. The place... More

The dodgy looking takeaway doubling up as a 'hostel reception' would have been enough to put me off, but arriving unbooked we had little choice. I was hoping from the '4' star rating that it would be ok. The mattresses in our room were clearly very old and very lumpy. The en-suite bathroom door lock was faulty and almost impossible... More

The owners (our hosts) were really helpful and kind to wait for us despite arriving very late in the night from Aberdeen. This location is great for value for travellers exploring the NE Highlands. The self-service breakfast (included in the price) is a plus.

One of the worst places I have ever stayed. We booked a small double room and the size was tiny as expected, what we did not expect was a bunked arrangement with a double below and single above. This meant my husband had to crawl over me to get out of bed to use the toilet, almost impossible to do... More

This is the worst hostel I have ever encountered. Its sits above a chip shop. The chip shop is as dirty unkept unheigeinic and disgusting as the hostel itself and the same owners appear to own both which probably explains why . The look of the shop brings on the conculsion it is nothing but a fire hazzard and the hostel... More

Spent two nights at this disgusting place at the conclusion of a cycle trip of the north west coast of Scotland. We used independent and SYHA hostels the entire route to keep costs down, and found all other hostels to be clean, well located and excellent value for money. The conclusion of the cycle meant spending the penultimate night in... More
