The room and bathroom we had were ok for the price, not perfectly clean but ok. Cereals and Taost are included in the room rate. The kitchen and dining area would be ok but definitely are not clean, they need a proper clean up. You shouldn't be in a rush when using the laundry facilites, the dryer takes very long.

There's no curfew here, beds are standard bunks, cooking facilities are decent. I can't fault the place and for £16 it would be stupid to think you're going to get the Ritz treatment. I'd go back if I ever found my self in Thurso again.

It's not the worst place ever, but nothing is done beyond the bare minimum. The rooms are cramped, the doors are dodgy (other reviewers seem to have had much worse horror stories), the mattresses are about two fingers thick, and the smell is less than fresh. The staff seemed to be at breaking point, and gave us worse-than-incorrect information about... More

We stayed there two nights at may day weekend. The rooms are not very clean but you've got a free breakfast included in the price. Overall I can recommend this to couples or people travelling alone. In my opinion it's not suitable for families with small childrens.

After reading the reviews on here we were dubious. BUT! It's a hostel, not a hotel, not a fancy guest house or boutique b&b! So just don't stay here if that is what you are looking for! Who cares if you have to check in in a chip shop?! The room was clean and the kitchen area is big and... More

All the negative reviews about the filthy and smelly state of the pace are true so I'm not bothering to detail that. I stayed in room 3 at the top of the fire escape,a room which is accessed by 2 doors, an outer leading directly onto the stairs and an inner which opens into the room. When I arrived the... More

Stayed two nights in October en-suite double room clean and with a tv. well equipped kitchen facilities and wifi/tv common room.well situated in centre of town its not luxurious but is a backpackers hostel at the end of the day and is half the price of other Thurso accommodation.staff friendly basic diy breakfast (toast /cereal)provided and unlimited tea/coffee all day.

Hostels are always a gamble, but if you're in a bind and desperate to put your head down - normal decision making paradigms in terms of room & board go out the window. Yes, checking in at a chip shop is incongruous but we turned up out of the blue (11 of us) and were accommodated well enough. The place... More

The dodgy looking takeaway doubling up as a 'hostel reception' would have been enough to put me off, but arriving unbooked we had little choice. I was hoping from the '4' star rating that it would be ok. The mattresses in our room were clearly very old and very lumpy. The en-suite bathroom door lock was faulty and almost impossible... More
