The Pentland was recommended to me by friends some time ago and I now always use it if staying in the Thurso area.The hotel is centrally located and offers good clean accomodation and appears to be properly managed with friendly staff.For dining there is the choice of a formal dining room or the bistro.Have only ever eaten in the bistro... more

Thurso is a great, friendly wee town. We stayed at The Pentland Hotel on Thu 1 June 2006. We had booked The Royal (across the aquare), but they lost the booking, or something, so we stayed in The Pentland for one night, and The Royal for one night. The Pentland Hotel is a nice hotel. So - you get to the top of the UK - miles away from anywhere, and anyone. You might expect there to be very little in the way of quality accomodation - WRONG!
