I attended this hotel whilst on business. I found the hotel was very dated and of a very poor standard, it also unfortunately had an musty smell. The staff seemed unresponsive and fairly uninterested in their guests, whilst the bedding was clean in my room the door lock did not work if you twisted the handle, the towel was stained... More

The Hotel has a good history but is well past its best. It is a very large Hotel but it is sad that only a limited part of it is now in use. The whole Hotel is in need of refurbishment, maybe that's why its not being fully used. The standard of food is obviously aimed at over night coach... More

Received a warm welcome from the lady at reception. The hotel is quite old fashioned. Fair enough as being too modern would be at odds with the rest of building. Hotels in other countries off the retro look. Got to my room. Pretty tired. Chipped paint on the doors and skirting. Pretty small. Very strange locking mechanism on the door.... More

Stayed here for one night in August and that was enough for me and my family. The receptionist could not answer our simple questions I.e. what is checking out time and breakfast. The rooms where ok in size. Curtains were to small for windows. Showers were hot and cold never stabilised the temperature. Beds were small. I had very bad... More

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I do find it amazing that my receptionists, who have been here for many years do not know the times of checkout or breakfast considering they are asked many times on a daily basis and are able to answer everyone else. I would dispute that the curtains are to small for... More

If you don't mind staying in a hotel with coach parties then this would suit. It was not that exciting as an hotel. Had all the essentials but the staff were helpful. I don't think I would rush back, but it was very central and the food in the bar was nice if slightly over priced.

Thank you for commenting on Tripadvisor. We do not only cater for coach parties but with 103 rooms do so along with many individuals. I am glad your overall stay was satisfactory and have noted your comment on the pricing of our bar meals. More

Stayed here for two nights as we had been to a Bespoke hotel in Oban which was okay. We were shown to our room through endless corridors. It was minute and the bathroom so small that the washbasin was in the room. Sheets and pillowcases were damp ! We were moved to another better one with larger bathroom straightaway. Had... More

I am sorry to hear of the problems you encountered during your stay and have adressed these with the appropriate members of staff. I cannot comment on rates set by other hotels but believe ours to be competative to our local market and indeed value for money More

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Royal Hotel. The hotel is of an older style but does not lack in any of the comforts of modern life. The room, at a very reasonable price, was very spacious and clean with all the facilities and provisions that anyone would need. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was... More

Good things first: The room was reasonable in size and clean. The rest of the hotel was OK, but a bit old. Especially the dining room which looked like id has been designed during the dark-ages (pretty depressing). Over all it was OK. Just some advice: Try not to get the room above the bar (on the left side of... More

1. Reception was a bit disorganised and chaotic. Took ages to find our booking, although when I phoned the day before re dietary requirements, the booking was found instantly. Free wifi was a bonus. 2. Took lift to the 2nd floor as directed. Smiled at the lift lined with old green corduroy carpet. Remembered when people used to carpet the... More

The hotel is well maintained and the staff could not be more helpful. Service is always with a smile and friendly suggestions of places to visit. Rooms spotless and fresh towels every day. Food was on par with typical hotel food served for coach parties. Restaurant was a bit regimented waiting for everyone to sit before orders were taken then... More
