I know this hotel intimately as a young child - my grandmother was the Hotel Manager and we went there every year. Fond memories from my childhood were brought back as I walked through the entrance door, many things had changed for the better but the warm character of the hotel remains - and probably always will. This is a... More

This is a nice enough hotel, well decked out with updated comfortable rooms overlooking bay or gardens. Good residents lounge but disappointed no fire blazing late September. Evening meal was a very nice experience, well presented and interesting thoughtful dishes. Breakfast, however, was rather poor. Not because of the quality of food but simply the portion size and options. Porridge... More

Most expensive accommodation during our 10 day motorbike tour in the Highlands. Performance low: tv no signal, shower nozzle defect, several lights in the room defect. Fawlty Towers would be the heaven.

We had a very friendly welcome from the owner (and chef) and good tour of the hotel. Our room was spacious and clean with a good view of Melvich Bay. The 6 course set menu dinner (alternatives choices were offered) was beautifully presented and sensible portion sizes, using local fresh produce, including Mey Selections. The owners are a young couple... More

We booked at the last minute and so were a little worried to be told that the rooms were smaller than the other double rooms in the hotel. We needn't have been. They were much larger than in many hotels and we have stayed in a few. We were welcomed by Rob who showed us around the hotel before taking... More

This charming country hotel is run by a young couple who go the extra mile to ensure that their guests are happy and well cared for. Our room was very large and the bathroom new and immaculate. We arrived a little late but got a warm and friendly reception. The highlight was the 6-course dinner (GBP 30,00/person), was of an... More

Far away from "the city" ... this hotel offers cosy hotel rooms, excellent food [dinner and breakfast too] and an extensive [affordable] malt whisky selection. They also have a WLAN [which I recommend to not use, to really enjoy the seclusion, the quietness] and a living room. From the hotel it is a 20 minute walk to the beach and... More

On a trip around the North of Scotland my wife and I had been around the Bettyhill area then had a nice sunny afternoon on the beach and before heading home thought we should have a relaxing drink somewhere nice. Finding nowhere open we thought we should try the Melvich Hotel as it had good reviews but on a hot... More

The hotel and restaurant were recommended to us by Secret Scotland. To cut a long story short, we booked the Melvich Hotel restaurant at the last minute. They usually need 2 or 3 days notice as everything is cooked fresh but thankfully chef could fit us in! You might think £30 before drinks is at the higher end of the... More

My wife and I wanted to make it to the north coast on our second trip to Scotland. A lot of research brought us to the Melvich Hotel and it was probably the best choice of our trip. The owners have made this into an excellently cozy, clean, and beautiful property in one of the more remote areas of Scotland.... More
