We were on our way to Orkney and Bencorragh suited us for a couple of nights. Quite an average place but friendly hosts and several cats....which didn't bother us...and a nice breakfast. A nice quiet country area.

We booked this place because of its location near the ferries to the Orkney Islands. We walked in to a house with at least four cats, and although neither of us has allergies, someone with allergies would have had serious issues with dust and hair. The cats occupied the common areas, including the sofa. We never did get hot water... More

Hostess (Sandra) was very friendly and approachable. The b&b is situated well once you get there - it's easy to get lost but she met us when we did get lost. However... Rooms are very basic and dated with no tv's. The communal guest area is over run with teddy bears and live cats. There was no mention of cats... More

we were disappointed with this accommodation to find a number of cats in the property which we would liked to have been warned about. The bedrooms (cat free) were a bit tired and had no TV in them but you could use the lounge TV. The owner was friendly, helpful and we had a plentiful breakfast in the morning.

Looked after well. Everything was fine for a B&B local to J.O.G. Friendly & helpful owner. Lots of cats, but not in the bedrooms and no signs of cat fluff in the dining area. Tasty breakfast and nothing was too much trouble.

Providing you're not allergic to cats and don't have an aversion to Teddy Bears - be warned there is a plethora of both - this a perfectly satisfactory overnight stop. Breakfast was good and served speedily. Oddly for this day and age there was no TV in the room. Unlike some other reviewers we found both owners friendly and forthcoming.... More

We stayed here in June 2013. The directions were not clear and required several phone calls. Sandi was helpful but not around much. Husband verged on the unpleasant and seemed to resent our picnic in the sitting area one night and hustled the cats out saying they were not used to visitors being in the room at night. No recommendations... More

Host was helpful and charming. Breakfast was fresh and lovely. Accommodation though roomy (far too many beds, however for our purposes) was a bit tired and not quite up to standard. It is important to note that this is very much a working farm. Their are animals not just around the outside, but also very very many cats inside! I would... More

Comfortable house, big rooms, clean, beautiful views, but very unfriendly welcome...We've come 2 families with 4 kids, and when we've asked to heat our baby food, he's told us that he doesn't know how it works, because he has choosed have animals instead of children....Afterwards I've asked to go and see the farm with the children and he has answered...
