I did Lejog in May this year and so am late writing this review. Mary was a real pleasure to deal with on the phone and extremely helpful with the logistics. She even went out of her way to pick up some special whiskey for us to drink that night. Finally finishing the bike ride Mary and family greeted us... More

My husband and I stayed just one night with Mary and Mark and could not have been made to feel more at home. As hosts they are attentive and friendly. The Guest house was warm and beautifully presented and Mary and Mark went out of their way to meet and greet us and open our eyes to the possible exploration... More

Stayed 2 nights at the guest house so I could do the day trip to Orkney. I was travelling solo and by bus, so was a little nervous about staying off the beaten track. I was offered a ride to the ferry but got a lot more than I expected, with Mark acting as my personal driver for 2 days.... More

Stayed here Sept 22nd and was very pleasantly surprised. Rooms really clean plus there were facilities (by the lounge area) to heat up and eat own food. I am lactose intolerant and so Mary cooked me some porridge made with soya milk and also some Scottish Pancakes made with soya milk in the morning. I would happily/eagerly return to this... More

Like so many other reviewers have said Mark and Mary were excellent hosts. They made us and our spaniel, Alfie, most welcome during our 1 night stay en route to Orkney. We decided to have our evening meal at the hotel and the food was superb and served with light hearted conversation and genuine interest. The room was very clean,... More

We stayed with two girlfriends at the John O'Groats Guest House at the end of August during a long weekend discovery in the Highlands and we loved it. The rooms were very clean and well decorated. They had everything you would need after a long day driving. The place is very relaxing and if you do not wish to remain... More

Such a warm welcome! From the moment we arrived, Mary and Mark made us feel completely at home. And what a lovely place to feel at home in. The rooms are lovely, the views beautiful and it's so peaceful and relaxing. Mary is an excellent cook and you'll get a huge, delicious breakfast in the morning. Be sure to try... More

For starters, anyone expecting a luxury hotel in this spot should think again: John O'Groats is a landmark, a goal, not really a stay-on place. This said, we were so glad we found Mary and Mark's (and their daughter's too) guest house! Travelling by motorbike, we make no reservations very much in advance, so we just arrived and looked/asked around.... More

Don't be put off by a rather unprepossessing exterior. The moment you step inside Mark and Mary make you feel as though you are a very welcome family member. We were supporting friends who has just completed a Land's End to John o' Groats charity ride who were staying elsewhere. There was no problem in their joining us for dinner... More
