We'd just finished cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats and the warm welcome, the food, the comfortable beds and the kind owners made this the best night of all the hotels we stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the food was good and the company was cheery.

The hotel was easy to locate, the welcome was very warm...Mark and Mary had done some research and were more than happy to chat about my JOGLE trip. Very comfortable room with a view ( Haar permitting!) Food was excellent, both dinner (Sticky Toffee to die for) and breakfast. One minor quibble was variable shower temperature but not a negative...I... More

If you have chose to go to John o' Groats you have probably researched it and know there's not a lot there, except a "John o' Groats" sign, departure point to The Orkneys and of course Duncansby Head & The Duncansby Stacks - as well as few local shops & restaurants BUT no major seasonal holiday arcades for the youngsters!... The recent reviews have probably said it all - the John O'Groats Guest House is truly excellent in every respect. Even if you have no other reason to be in John O'Groats, it's worth going there just to experience Mark and Mary's warm hospitality, very well appointed rooms and excellent meals. Nothing was too much trouble - and daughter Julie... More

We came as guests for 1 night and left as friends after a week. Mark and Mary are the perfect hosts, they make one feel so welcomed that the Guest House almost instantly becomes Home! It became our second home and we'll definitely drop by there again, as we gained friends we definitely want to see again. Rooms are clean,... More

We stayed here for one night and the friendliness and helpfulness of Mary and Mark was just brilliant. The guest house is amazing and we enjoyed a lovely meal home-cooked by Mary along with her delicious breakfast the following morning. Would definitely recommend.

John O'Groats is a very, very small village with only limited services available. We booked in at the John O'Groats Guest House based on previous Trip Advisor reviews. Mark and Mary couldn't have been more gracious and we certainly enjoyed our stay. The accommodations are spotlessly clean and more than adequate though not luxurious. This isn't a resort. It is... What a gem of a guest house!!!! Clean, comfortable, cosy and Mary and Mark are exceptional hosts and Mary's pancakes and ice cream are to die for. Even though the ferry terminal to the Orkney Islands is straight down the road and easy to access Mark insisted on driving us to and picking us up from the terminal. We felt... More

Mary and mark were so welcoming and friendly and were great with our young kids. They couldn't have done more to help and make our stay better. The room was spotlessly clean, comfy bed and the breakfast was really tasty. Overall would thoroughly recommend this b and b!

My son and I had a great first night here before our John O'Groats to Land's End cycle trip. Mary and Mike were exceptionally keen to please, interested and committed to making our stay enjoyable and comfortable. The bedroom was lovely and comfortable with fabulous views and the location was great for us. They couldn't have been more helpful with... More
