Stopped here on route to Orkney for a drama festival with 9 others. Wow! The welcome was wonderful. The owners Mary and mark were there, but never obtrusive, it felt more like visiting family. The rooms are above basic. They are well decorated and equipped with tea and coffee machines. Try the shortbread in the little compartment underneath! We had... More

Stayed here with my girlfriend and wee dog for 2 nights and was treated like a lord? The hosts Mary and Mark are the best hoteliers I've ever met and the accommodation was spotless and immaculate. The food was a delight and what ever you wanted was no trouble to them. Will be staying again in the near future. Brrrrrilliant!!!

I arrived fairly late in the evening, cold & tired after cycling to JoG. I received a really warm welcome on arrival from Mary & Mark and in a few minutes, I was sat down and chatting to them over a cuppa and biscuits. They really are exceptionally lovely hosts and very helpful with any questions or requests. My room... More

People like Mary and Mark Pewtress give accommodation like their’s an excellent name. Deservedly so. They made us feel welcome, offered to drive us to local places and the rooms we hired were adequate for the purpose. Mary kindly offered to do some washing for us and we both enjoyed their cooking. My wife absolutely loved the meal that Mary... More

A lovely guesthouse and a welcome retreat after the 7 hour drive to get here. Mark and Mary make you feel at home the minute you arrive, with a"nothing is too much trouble" approach which is genuine and warm. Looking forward to booking my return visit in July

Mary & Mark were very welcoming and flexible. We arrived late but still had dinner in the evening. Great food and great value. Breakfast was huge and lots of options. Bed was comfortable in a well decorated room.

I cycled solo from Lands End to John O'Groats and decided to book my final accommodation here after looking at previous reviews. As I approached the Guest House at the end of my adventure I was greeted by Mary and Mark who were so generous with their congratulations. They then offered to drive down to the official end and take... More

we arrived quite late at the guest house and were welcome with a lovely cuppa to warm us up. The welcome was second to none. As it was quiet we got upgraded to a family room (we only wanted a twin originally). The rooms was just refurbished so perfect. Thanks for a lovely stay in John O Groat.
