If Carlsberg were writing this, they would say "Probably the best B & B in the world", and who would argue with them? I know it is off the beaten track, but it is well worth going the extra miles to get there. I should know, I walked there from Land's End and did not regret a single step of... More

The guest house is very clean and comfortable and well set up - as an earlier review said, 'Don't judge a book by its cover'. Mary and Mark are wonderful hosts who have got the balance between being helpful and available and yet not intrusive exactly right. We'd definitely stay here again!

Had the most amazing time at this B&B. Lovely clean rooms, comfy beds and hearty breakfasts served. Our hosts Mary & Mark were friendly and pleasant and great company. They made our stay so enjoyable and pleasant. Mary's son John even entertained the visiting guests by playing his guitar and singing a song from our home countries. He's a talented... More

We spent September 29 here. Mary and Mark were so hospitable and our room fresh, clean and meeting all our needs. Mary made us supper of lentil soup and vegetable curry which was delicious, made better with lovely conversation and stories. Breakfast was also delicious with lots of options - we chose porridge, pancakes and bacon. We have travelled for... More

This is a little jem of the North of Scotland. The hospitality extended by Mary and Mark makes it truely a Home from Home. The welcome you receive when you arrive continues throughout your stay. Really comfortable rooms and the food is delicious, which when mixed with the homely feel and stunning scenery , makes it a truely memorable stay.... More

Where would I start. Mary and Mark are brilliant..nothing was too much trouble. The rooms had everything we needed and the breakfast was great. We were there on the NC500 tour to celebrate our joint 60th birthdays and couldn't thank them enough. I'll cycle to John O'Groats just to stay there. Shhh...don't tell them...It's also too cheap. :-)

If you don't like to be treated as the King,or Queen,of Scotland stay somewhere else. But i strongly recommend you don't. I was greeted by Mark by my name, which was a bit of a surprise, cause it was my first visit and he didn't know my face.He then showed me the room, and while i brought my luggage in,he put the kettle on... My son and I stayed at the John o'Groats Guest House last year, and were so blown away by Mark and Mary's hospitality that it was the first place I called when I returned this year. It's a funny looking building from the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover - inside the rooms are immaculate and well-equipped,... More

We have been here for the past 2 night as we did a tour of the Orkneys. Mary and Mark were welcoming from the beginning, they welcome you into their home and treat you like family. The rooms are impeccable and the bathroom clean and tidy. I love the communal area they have, both nights it was buzzing with different... More

Arrived late evening as arranged and we were met at the door by Mark and Mary with the loveliest warm welcome. We were shown to our room straight away, along with our two pooches, and provided with information required for our stay. We settled in immediately, freshened up in our spacious, very clean and comfortable room before our evening meal.... More
