Thanks to Ethel and her husband for making us very welcome. We enjoyed our short stay after returning from Orkney. Easy to find. Enjoyed Breakfast, hopefully "Green or Peppermint Tea" option will soon be available for Breakfast which was very enjoyable. Thank you.

We stayed here for a couple of nights prior to taking the ferry to Orkney. Accommodation was first class, everything of very high quality. The bedrooms were spacious, spotless and extremely comfortable. We were made most welcome by Ethel and her husband. We would highly recommend this as a base for touring the North coast, and very convenient for the... More

Excellent Burnside Cottage signage helped us to easily locate this lovely, rural (quiet), clean, modern home coming from Thurso initially and again after dinner from John o'Groats. Ethel was most welcoming when we arrived and provided good information about the local dining options. We enjoyed our evening in the generous sized bedroom 3. It was possible to appreciate the wonderful... More

Brunside is in a nice rural setting about a mile from the sea at Gills Bay. From the outside there are fine views of the mountains on one side and the sea, Stroma and Orkney on the other. It takes a long time to get there but it's such a relaxing place. Mr and Mrs Green made us feel so... More

My wife and I have stayed three times with Mrs Green and her husband David. Each time we return we feel like we are meeting up with old friends again. We have been in two of the bedrooms and they are both excellent. The breakfast is the usual hearty Scottish selection and Mrs Green does her utmost to look after... More

Our hostess at The Clachan in Wick reserved a room for us at the Burnside since we would be spending the day touring the Orkney Islands with a return around 8pm, not the best time to start to search for a room. We were exhausted when we arrived and the thought of returning to John O'Groats for dinner would have... More
