I was on business and needed a hotel on the way to Elgin when I came across the Boat Hotel. Easy to find, in a little village just off the main road north and plenty of parking. My room was large with everything you might need including an armchair which was a nice touch. Decoration a little chintzy but fresh... more

Arrived at Hotel Boat and reception looked welcoming and good. Got to the room and found it very average. Room was cold and as no heating on and it was snowing outside, we were frozen. Turned heating on which took 10mins to come on but once on after a few hours the room really heated up. Single glazing in room... more

Only 6 miles from Aviemore, this is an ideal hotel to stay if you wish to tour the lovely Spey Valley.A relaxing location with golf and fishing available nearby. The Steam Railway with it's nostalgic wee station is on the doorstep, literally! With the surrounding countryside, a photographers dream! The hospitality was flawless at every level. The food was first class... more

We stayed at the Boat Hotel on the 25th Jan 2008 and on our arrival we were warmly greeted by Diane at reception who was incredibly helpful and professional. We were very impressed that our old dog was treated as warmly as we were. As it was in the evening when we arrived, we decided to have a drink in... more

We'd set off on Friday night knowing only that we fancied heading up to the Cairngorms! On route, we flicked through a few reference books and decided on Boat of Garten, and subsequently chose the Boat Hotel. We called ahead and reception confirmed that they had a room, and we could confirm when we got there if we wanted to... more

we had a most enjoyable three-day stay at the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly from the Manager to the cleaner who looked after our room. We would recommend it most highly. Our suite of rooms were most comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. When we arrived the receptionist was on the top of... more

What could pass for quaint at other hotels is instead old and dirty at the Boat Hotel. The rooms are clean, but in dire need of repair; the staff is generally rude and not accommodating; and the food is mediocre at best. Many locals in the area lamented the downward spiral of the hotel since new management took over. If... more

The room was ok but the shower room was bad. The shower head was falling apart the soap holder was minus the top half and we were left with two very rusty screws (only one connected to the dish)The water in the shower eventually became warm after 5 minutes. There was dirt and dust all around the skirting board in... more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY BY STAYING AT THE BOAT HOTEL! After reading reviews about the hotel and looking at ther website, we were excited about staying at the Boat Hotel. From the hotel, we planned to visit the highlands. If I had not been obligated through my Visa guarantee, I would not have checked in after seeing the hotel. Building... more
