Concur with previous . The layout of Highlands is bewildering! Room number signs take you up stairs, only to be confronted with another sign to go back down stairs! You will most likely be doing this with your cases. As THE lift is tiny and most likely in use. I didn't blame the guy who fell and lay outside our... more

The Hotel is shabby, the staff helpful in an Eastern-european way. This Hotel gives itself 4 stars,3 too many in my opinion. There was insufficent parking,no help with your bags ,the access is poor with 1 tired old lift in the cold dark corridor to help lift your load ,the decor throughout is tired and dated. Our fuse blew on the... more

The swimming and spa facility is excellent. However, the other aspects of the complex are not for young families. The atmosphere in Giovanni's (supposedly child friendly option) is stuffy. The staff work hard but seem to be on edge. The food court is really not good and if you need assistance, unfortunately the staff do not speak English. The food... more

We booked three rooms in the highland hotel as it was meant to be the best out of the three. From checking in to leaving, the service and everything to do with the hotel was poor. Without wasting too much of my time, here is a quick review: 1) Service is terrible – Nobody cares about you, the customer. Any... more

My hubby and I went here for our second wedding anniversary. We got a good dinner bed and breakfast deal on the MacDonald website and were not disappointed. We only stayed for one night. Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished/decorated. Bathroom had a cosmetic mirror which I liked and there were nice complimentary toiletries. We had a delicious... more

I stayed here with my young family in June for a weekend to get away from it all. The hotel and facilities are OK, but some what in need of some investment to bring the whole complex up to scratch. The owners need to splash the cash to generate the WOW factor. The bedrooms in the Highland Hotel are functional... more

I've stayed at three of the four hotels in this complex, and although all have been refurbished on the outside, the interiors aren't seen until it's too late. There are no smoking rooms, which is fine if you don't smoke. If you do, then it's hypothermia time as you stand outside in the howling winter gales, a plot to rid... more

Grounds and views - perfect. Hotel - tired and need of work - clinical feel Food - alright and not expensive (drink prices expensive but no more than you expect in a hotel but rip you off on soft drinks) Price - overpriced - £125 a night for a family room b&b or £95 room only - Beds - ok... more

Lovely location, opposite the train station, the facilities were outstanding, the hotel was clean, the food excellent and the staff could not be more helpful. Thoroughly recommend this hotel for a restful vacation. We also used the Spa facilities which were well run. more
