Having met in the old Aviemore centre nearly 37 years ago, my Wife and I were looking for somewhere special nearby to spend our 35th Wedding Anniverary, which ruled-out the recent concrete constructions. This small hotel proved to be an excellent choice. Clean, welcoming and friendly, with excellent food, one of the proprietors even lent me her telephoto lens to... more

We have stayed in the hotel and the chalets. There is no more peaceful feeling than waking early in the morning and opening the curtains to see the ducks and ducklings expectantly waddling to your patio doors for food and attention. The woodland walks around the hotel are excellent and safe. The cleanliness and service are without exception excellent. I... more

A beautiful setting for a lovely hotel, the food was excelent and the owners, Alison and Lindsay, were so friendly and chatty. One small criticism 'though - the soundproofing between our room and the one above was non existant (we could hear one of the guests upstairs snoring!) but, on the whole, we had a great time and we will... more

We have just returned after a 2 night break to the Fairwinds to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary. The service was superb, Alyson and Lyndsay made the whole experiance very personal and romantic for us. The superior room was fantastic ,the bed was so big ,I woke up during the night and wondered where my husband was as I couldnt... more

My girlfriend and I celebrated her 30th birthday here in January. We had a fantastic time; the food really was outstanding, the 'superior' room was warm, clean and comfortable with a lovely en suite, and the peaceful scenery around the hotel made us feel miles from the city- it made a great base for exploring the Cairngorms. However, what made... more

We spent 3 days at Fairwinds as a group of four. This was a lovely cosy hotel where you were made to feel very welcome. It was close to achieving that one quality which hotels normally can't get near to and that is to make you feel as comfortable as if you were in your own home. Its locality is... more

we agree with every review that has been made. We went for a week 14/7/07, and booked this hotel after reading the reviews on this site. We were not disapointed at all. The hotel was very clean, and very well looked after, the food was lovely, and very well prepared. The room was also great, lovely large size. Would recommend... more

We spent 3 days at Fairwinds early in July along with 2 friends. This was part of a 10 day break visiting Edinburgh, The Cairngorms, Fort William and Mull. Having read the reviews of Fairwinds on Tripadvisor (and booking on the basis of those reviews), we arrived with the hope that expectations wouldn't be dashed. We need not have worried.... more

I booked 2 nights for the 23rd and 24th of June 2007 with Dinner included the first night. The trip was a double header, it being our wedding anniversary on the 24th, which coincided with Crowded House playing at the Outsider Festival on the 24th. As usual I used Trip Advisor to select the hotel, and as Fairwinds was head... more

We booked a two night romantic break at Fairwinds Hotel at the beginning of April. As two Glaswegians living in London we were long overdue an escape to somewhere far less hectic and much more scenic. Taking the sleeper train from London to Aviemore was an ideal way to begin the trip, with a short connection to Carrbridge and walk... more
