The room was advertised as a "Twin Room" which would lead one to expect two single beds, appropriate for a couple. What was provided was two bunk beds which when compared to comparatively priced rooms elsewhere, falls massively below what was expected. Additionally, for mid January heating was a real issue. There was no radiator and we had to resort... More

On our travels we have often stopped off for a drink at The Old Bridge Inn but never stayed, so when we knew we were walking Ben Macdui we opted to stay. The Old Bridge Inn and Bunkhouse in Aviemore was a welcome retreat after a few days on the hills with warm welcome upon our arrival. The bunkhouse is... More

The Bunkhouse is adjoined to The Old Bridge Inn. It's a comfortable hostel type property with basic rooms. The rooms are clean and good to lay your head down after participating in a day of local activities or walks. It is located in a quite area of Aviemore and sits next to the River Spey. There are lovely walks from... More

Stayed in the Aviemore for two (non-consecutive) nights. Friendly staff and clean beds. The first night there were three of us in a room for six which was really nice but the 2nd time there were six in a room of whom one couple was rather anti social and wanted to have nothing to do with the rest which is... Really in need of some TLC, could be so much better as it's in such a nice area, near the river, however, very very noisy, lots of banging noises all night, the shower could do with a good clean, shower cuts out every 20 seconds, no soap in bathroom, hair in the beds, no ventilation, tape holding the electric sockets... Got off plane from Canada with 14 & 23 yo and headed north, aiming to meet family for a get together in the far north, so this was the perfect place for a rest half way. I have virtually no hostelling experience & my expectations weren't particularly high: we just needed somewhere to sleep and dozens of B&Bs I'd called... More

I've stayed at the bunkhouse a few times and it is of a high standard for its location, quality of accommodation and facilities in the building. This time though there were 4 adults in the family room which consists of a double bed and two bunks. This configuration proved to be cramped when we were all trying to sort out... More

27 of us hired out the entire bunkhouse for a weekend for a stag do and it was a perfect base for the weekend. The Kitchen is a bit small for the amount of people but seats across the road outside if the weather is good.

Having booked a twin room, it seems we actually pay for the privilege of having a four bed dorm to ourselves. Fair enough, but bed was very squeaky, facilities basic and at £50 for a room with the bins outside the window I'd stay in a B&B elsewhere every time.

Like said in the title, the bunkhouse's walls must be made of cardboards because you can hear every little noise! The rooms are niether small nor big, the bathroom is OK. On the other hand, the kitchen and the eating area is very small to welcome every guests. Finally about the staff, well I can't say, I didn't really see... More
