I think this is the hotel that John Cleese based fawlty towers on . It has to be experienced to be believed , from the grumpy waiter at breakfast to the half finished rooms (doors falling off , painting half done , holes in floor etc ) and the band that must have been paid by the other pubs in... On arrival 30 minutes after the check-in time we were told to wait 15 minutes as the Manager had a problem to deal with, fair enough but it was his tone which wasn't polite. Anyway, within that time he dealt with the couple in front of us and when asked about paying by cash, he said "We Love Cash Here!"... More

here for 3 nights, the worst pub we went in out of 7. Unclean, sticky floor, tables were unintentionally green and sticky, uninterested staff, toilets with no locks, no toilet roll, no soap. When I asked for toilet roll at the bar I got an "oh well, someone will sort it in a bit". Badly trained staff with no thought... More

Awful....... We booked the place to stay on a motorcycling tour of Scotland, fortunately friends we were with stayed out a while longer, we said we'd get checked in and meet them there later. The place looks run down and alarms should have rung when payment was asked for on arrival. We went up the stairs which were dimly lit... More

We stayed here for one night in the summer, The staff were helpful and friendly food and beer was good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately there was nothing good about the room. A smallish dark room, not very clean, the lock didn't seem very secure as one was broken and another added but the door opened an inch without being unlocked.... More

Very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic choice of beers in the bar/restaurant and good food, especially the curry. However the condition of the rooms was not so good: door locks not working 100%, dark small rooms and a very tiny shower. We stayed at a friday evening and there was music and singing till late, after which the guests of... More

Stopped here last year and gave it the benefit of the doubt, and stayed here for a couple of nights last week. Won't make the same mistake again! Perhaps it's best to begin with the good points -Excellent breakfasts, Decent evening meal, good choice of beer, friendly staff -That's about it. We arrived mid-afternoon and reported that our toilet was broken. After... More

Very loud, late night music - to 1am and beyond - was a big problem, guests rooms being above the bar and music/karaoke stage area. Paying guests seem to have little or no precedence over the small number of revellers that the live music attracts. There was no daily room service - room not cleaned at all during our three... We stayed one night only (Sunday 24-5-15). The entrance was filthy and the whole place looked run down. The bannisters on the stairs were dangerously loose. We had a twin bed room which was dark (walls painted maroon) and the en-suite shower/toilet room was the smallest I have ever seen. The towel rail was hanging off the wall. The music... More

I was worried staying here that it would be terrible. It was far from it. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. There was loud music until 1am but I am a light sleeper and still managed to sleep through it, just depends if it would bother you. It's far from 5 star hotel, but a decent... More
