We have ate at Mackenzies, before but had not tried their burgers. Great bun, with great taste and presentation. We just had to go back on the Wednesday for their two steaks and wine deal. The steak was prefect and had a great taste, not only this but the choice of any wine on the list! All this for £30! We... More

After our wonderful trip up the Cairn Gorm we made our way to Mackenzies Highland Inn for lunch. We chose our meal from the Special's board, we both had Hake, Chips, Salad and Garden Peas I must admit I was unsure of Hake, I really only eat Haddock, Cod on the rare occasion, Jonny assured me it was a white... We stayed for one night at Mackenzies Highland Inn. I did not realize before we got there, but be advised that the pub has live music on Fridays and Saturdays until past midnight, and if you stay on that side of the hotel you will feel it coming through the floor even if you manage to drown out the sound... Mackenzies Highland Inn is centrally located clean and with very friendly and helpful staff. On the down side it is a fully functioning pub and as such can be noisy late at night but what do you expect if you book a room over a pub? We stayed 2 nights for £130 that is for bed and breakfast. Breakfast was... More

Don't stay here if you want to sleep. We booked the hotel hoping to get a good nights sleep but have not managed it yet at 01:00. This is due to terrible mattresses, unbelievably bad pub singer, drunk guests in room next door and paper thin walls. Wallpaper peeling off in the room. Can't wait to get out tomorrow.

To be fair the sign outside the pub did mention karaoke - but we didn't expect it to start well after 10pm and continue thumping until about 1.30am directly under our room. The twin room was tiny and grubby, and the en-suite bathroom even smaller. The bathroom door was hanging off its hinges and one of the mattresses, although apparently... More

Booked here as we needed 2 nights in Aviemore. Other reviews seem to suggest staff and food good, rooms poor. Our experience was similar. The rooms are basic, but we had no issue with cleanliness. Our concerns over noise from the lively pub (open 'til 1:00am) were unfounded however, as we were in Room 6, ground floor, furthest from the... More

Ok, its a bit tired looking, but its not the ritz, doesnt claim to be the ritz and quite frankly if it was you'd not pay only £55 a night for a room and a decent breakfast menu included in the price. We've visited before and our view of the place hasnt changed. Its a friendly pub/hotel with a brilliant... More
