they always say you get what you paid for, well i agree, we were just looking for a wee b&b for a night. fair enough dinner in the hotel was booked out but we got excellent food at pub down the road. Anyway, the staff were very friendly, room very spacious, warm, pretty decent view, very quiet hotel overall, breakfast... more

Avoid this hotel. Although the website says the rooms are "magnificently furnished" this a false description. Mine was totally bare and unfurnished. Service was poor, no food possible after the very early time of 20.30, the food awful and the rooms bare and noisy. The shower was a simple mixer tap which either froze or scalded and could not be... more

recently stayed at the balavil. We were a group of 37 from France and the staff proved very helpful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and the food excellent, everyone enjoyed their stay what a wonderful introduction to Scotland more

This hotel cancelled my booking when I was less than one hour away from it after driving 14 hours on business. The staff on the phone were extremely unhelpful and basically washed their hands of the whole thing. I eventually found a room at a nearby hotel where the service was excellent. Stear clear of this hotel unless you want... more

Just back from the Balavil where I stayed with my wife and granddaughter. Was wondering if we were at the same hotel as the lady from Dundee. Yes the hotel is slightly dated from the outside but that is all part of its charm. When we arrived we could not have hoped for a better reception - made to feel... more

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel and to be fair , you get what you pay for. It was £25 pppn B+B. On arrival the hotel was very quiet and looked like it was shut however we checked in and were given room 33 up the stairs. It was very small with a double... more

We booked this through LateRooms. We were advised this is a 3 star hotel and rates charged , description and photos indicated a seriously nice hotel & restaurant. The description and photo's on laterooms were deceiving, as was the description on the hotel's own website. We were thoroughly disappointed. This is no where near the standard of any 3 star... more

Stayed at this small friendly hotel for 4 nights as art of a Jamesway Travel short break. It was fantastic value. The staff were excellent and the food was also very good. The best Scottish beef and the Salmon was obviously very fresh. Its a good location for travelling around the central part of Scotland with Loch Ness, Inverness, Aviemore... more

Stayed here recently as part of a tour. Nice but very basic country inn. Was very clean and comfortable, and there are a few amenities in the area, such as a market. The surrounding area is rather quiet but it's a good base for exploring the Scottish Highlands. Dinner and breakfast were also very good. more
