Loch Ossian is beautiful and easy to get to from the train at Corrour. We have been to the hostel before when walking in this area. It is advertised by SYHA as a Rustic Hostel so be prepared - there are no showers and the toilets are outside. Importantly if you arrive back from a wet walk the drying facilities... More

Loch Ossian Hostel is in a beautiful remote location. We booked the hostel, and the rooms in Corrour Station House Restaurant for a group of 25 of varying ages for a 50th birthday celebration in early March. The hostel sleeps 20. The warden, Jan, as previous reviews have noted, is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The hostel was warm with... More

The location is amazing but its basic so be aware of this. The hostel is about a mile from Corrour train station along a track which is very exposed in bad weather. When you get there you are greeted my Jan who lives next to the hostel and is very friendly and helpful. The hostel itself has room for 20... More

This place has an amazing view and ideal location for the area. But we when we were there selfish idiots from Kilsyth partied until 03:00 in the morning and kept putting the lights on in the dorm. No one had a decent sleep. Will not be going back. Shame. No management of residents.

We only stayed for one night on a munro bagging trip. We were greeted by Jan the hostel manager, a lovely warm and friendly lady. The hostel was clean and warm, and that night full. All 12 bunks in the male dorm were full, it was a great atmosphere, there were 3 other groups as well as ours and we... More

Though I thought that this was an excellent place/stay, it should be recognised that this is a Youth Hostel and the accommodation is reflective of this, so the rooms are male bunk beds for 12 and 8 female bunkbeds, with a nice cosy communal kitchen come living room. But the real reason most people I guess come here is for... More

Amazing place - remote hostel only accessible by train (Corrour) and hill walking. 20 beds (12 male and 8 female) - eco lodge so compost toilets, no showers, hot wash basins and stoves fires all powered by solar and wind energy. Scenery magnificent, great location for cheap fishing or bagging munros. Rustic living on a budget. Staff are amazing -... More

This has to be the most peaceful place in the UK. Fantastic - quiet, cosy and wonderful wilderness. The walk to the 3 munros is great, and the walk around the loch is also magic. There were no midges when I visitied (June 13).

Stayed here for one night at the start of a 44-hr "fast and light" trip to bag Carn Dearg, Sgor Gaibhre (+ Top), Beinn Bheoil (+ Top) and Ben Alder. The location of the hostel is magnificent while inside it is as clean and comfortable as dormitory/communal kitchen accommodation can be. The warden (Katrina?) was lovely and made me feel... More

We stayed for 3 nights in early May 2013 (too early in the year for midges to be a problem). This is simply a brilliant hostel. The relief warden Katrina was fantastic – she made us very welcome and kept the coal/wood stove going the whole time we were there (even getting up at 6:30am to get it going!). This... More
