The hotel is well situated in city centre and quite an impressive old building. On checking in we discovered our room was literally a metre from the reception desk!! Felt that this did not allow for any privacy as because we could overhear every word said at reception they would hear every word that was said by us! We have... More

Paid 40 pound for a single room and just about got value for money. Staff friendly and keen. Room nicely presented but far too hot - it was not possible to turn the radiator off. Very noisy through the night which led to a disrupted sleep. Small breakfast area where you 'sit where you like'. Ok for me as an... More

I booked this hotel because of its location and over other hotels as it advertised a "Double Room with ensuite bathroom". However when we arrived we were given a room with just a shower. I complained to reception to which I was told the hotel does not have any baths and that in "Glasgow" a bathroom doesn't mean it has... More

Paid £60 for one night. Bed and pillows rock hard so didn't sleep at all. Radiator on full and didn't turn off so was boiling hot. Got room 8 at back of hotel in basement where all bins for pubs/restaurants are so was noisy all night. Staff were nice tho and breakfast ok. Wouldn't return tho.

Wife and I stayed here on the 14th Dec. for one night. girl on reception was pleasant and we were quickly signed in, we were given room No.11 in the basement. The room was small but clean, the toilet clean and Fresh, however the plumbing made a terrible noise when you flushed the toilet, the shower head was broken, water... More

Terrible nights sleep with a terrible breakfast! The staff room I presume where some of the breakfast is prepared is right next to your door! I could hear all the staff talking at 6am in the morning! There was music blasted aswell! The bed was uncomfortable and pillows not very good! The shower flooded so I couldn't use it! And... More

We stayed here for 1 night as we were going to see a concert. The room although a little small, was clean and warm. We were in the basement of the hotel in room 15. It was located at the back of the hotel and our night was quiet and cosy. The breakfast was good with fruit, cereals and yoghurt... More

I have stayed twice in a couple of weeks. On-street parking, very central to shops, pleasant staff and clean rooms. I didn't find it too noisy. No view etc, and slightly compact but this is more than reflected in the rpice you pay. Not ideal for lone woman, having said that I had no problems. Rooms adequately furnished and great... More

I have stayed at the Newton Hotel on various occasions. If you are looking for a one nighter in a City Centre Hotel on a budget, then I would suggest this. Charing Cross train station is a 5 minute walk away. There are grander hotels in the City Centre, however you are talking about forking out about £80 upwards for... More
