Stayed here before for business and a very welcoming hotel. Rooms very quiet and comfortable. Only had a bar meal this time and of first class quality and price. Only minor gripe was the lady at checkout, too busy discussing her partner with her colleague more

Very friendly staff all of whom made us feel welcome. Extensive choice of breakfast with good ideas such as the vegetarian Scottish and the excellent fresh kippers. The snug bar is a delight with a good selection of real ale and whiskies, and wholesome pub menu. The executive rooms are a little dark, but are big. The bathrooms are a... more

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 8 years, my husband and I tend to book in here for the night to have some time away from our kids and we find the staff very welcoming. The rooms are very clean and comfortable although a wee bit dark. We usually stay for one night at a... more

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. Rooms clean and comfortable but very dark and decor a bit dated. Cooked breakfast was bit cold on first morning. Special thanks to girl on reception with long blonde hair who was very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful-even recommended the "morcambe" show at the edinburgh fringe festival which we really enjoyed. more

Business commitments mean I have been staying at this hotel four times a year for five years now. If you are looking for a friendly, homely hotel, then you should give it a try. There is a selection of room types to suit most budgets. The rooms are large and are allways very clean and comfortable. However i find the... more

I've read a lot of negative comments on this hotel but choose it because it was handy for a wedding venue we were going to and was not too expensive. Our room was a good size, clean and had a powerful shower. The staff rustled up a pub lunch for us and there was no problem with us coming in... more

Practically lived in the place in the eighties, fab food lunch and dinner , What has happened greasy breakfast served by unhappy man. Not very pleasant booking in lady, felt I was a bit of a pest wanting to know where my room was. Nice friendly Irish girl the morning I was leaving , so I guess not all is... more

Similar to others, hotel staff rude but the senior management and reception staff need some serious customer training. Rooms do not have showers - the owner/manager was very rude when I informed that my executive room did not have a shower ,as advertised, and he informed that women prefer baths and that my wife should be happy she had a... more

Fom the moment that the receptionist was rude to me on the phone when booking my room, i guessed that this hotel was hardly going to be 5 star standard, and I was right. However that was nothing compared to the rudeness of the girl serving breakfast the following morning. When i asked if they had any potato scones the... more

Again, a negative comment, however, not completely correct. We take all comments seriously and I am very disappointed that this guest felt it necessary to write such a scathing review. All points were looked into and my conclusion was that you simply cannot please everyone. Expectations differ and sometimes they are not realistic. We are not flawless by any manner...
