We spent two nights here in May at the start of our walking holiday. We arrived tired and rather hungry in the middle of a damp afternoon and were rather put off by the large sign for a beer garden draped over the front of the hotel. Glad we visited this hotel. Excellent service and food. Menu had a superb choice and you will not be left hungry. Hotel was as described with leather sofas, open fires and a wonderful residents lounge. Cosy hotel and a good location for touring around loch lomond. The room was spacious enough but what it let down was the paper peeling... more

Just returned from a quick Easter break from Loch Lomond and had booked into the Black Bull Hotel for 2 evenings....We stopped for the Friday only. No heating in rooms on arrival and very tepid water, lulled into the shower by some warm water, then hey presto freezing cold....but thank goodness didn't have time to get properly wet! Oh dear... I really expected this place to be a little gem, but it's all in the details and this hotel simply doesn't pay enough attention to them. At first sight, the room was good - airy, pleasant, with nice fresh bedlinen; however on closer inspection, there was quite a lot of peeling paint, dark marks on the wall above... more

This privately run hotel is ideally placed for touring in one of Scotland's most beautiful areas. It is also within a fifteen minute road journey for rail travel connecting to Glasgow and other cities in the UK. Welcoming and Friendly staff, good food and ambience. Situated in one of the most beautiful areas i have ever been to. Only stayed one night, but will definately go again. more
