We stayed here for one night, room only, because we had an early train to catch next morning. The hotel is actually attached to the train station so it couldn't be more convenient; we worried that it might prove to be noisy with either train announcements or too many passengers, especially when we noticed that the windows weren't double glazed.... I stayed here for two nights. When I arrived I was greeted by the doorman who was very friendly and helped with my bags. Apart from him, the other members of staff were rude and unapproachable. The room was clean and I had a lovely view of George Square with the Christmas lights up which was nice but overall I... More

Had an overnight in this hotel. Very central. Decided to have something to eat in the hotel. Service was slow. Food ok. Room was very clean but bit dated. In need of an upgrade. For a city hotel it was fine and served the purpose. Not 4 star

Really shabby and tired hotel with overzealous door staff. Shabby fixtures is one thing, but the dirt and filth in the room and corridors is disgusting. The rooms we had were on the 4th floor - tiny Windows, sloped ceilings and scummy carpets make for a dingy cramped experience- the wake up call from the tannoy system at the train... More

Booked afternoon tea for a crowd via telephone and requested tables in the conservatory. Couldn't specify numbers and didn't pay a deposit, quite informal, I guess fairly quiet in January. We were welcomed into Beautifully appointed tables on the square with lovely linen as expected , perfect for our party of 12ish. The afternoon tea was good, nice fresh crustless... More

Used to stay at this hotel when it was the Copthorne and in those days it was fantastic. Visited it this afternoon with a friend for a simple coffee and they couldn't even get that right. The two cappuccinos we were served were lukewarm and watery. Requested replacements which were brought to us within a reasonable time. They were hot... More

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions due to its location. However, over the years it has become tired and has taken on a dark and gloomy ambience. This is a shame because it is a lovely building which just requires a bit of love and care. The breakfast is just okay but where is the potato scones... More

Check in was quick and easy thanks to Raymond who was very polite and friendly. We upgraded to a club room and we were very disappointed no luxury here, the furniture was very shabby and no mirror above the table for hair and makeup..Two chairs and A small round table in the corner. I would not expect to find U.H.T... More

I stayed one night on business. Efficient check in, if not particularly welcoming. My room backed onto the train station so I was worried about the noise. It wasn't a problem at all until I opened the window as the room was so warm and the air conditioning didn't seem to do anything. I closed it again and had a... More
