An ideal base for visiting Glasgow. The hop on hop off bus stops just a short walk away and we parked outside the hotel for 2 days free. There are some beautiful houses to look at on the way to the bus stop and the botanical gardens as well. Some good eating places on Byres road which is nearby.

Great hotel for a weekend tour to Glasgow. Douglas and family makes this place very cosy and pleasant. 😃 The old Victorian style house feeling - will allow you a traditional feeling of joy.😃 Can be recommended😃

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here very much. The hotel is housed in a beautiful building in a quiet neighborhood in the West End and offers free breakfast and wi-fi. The wi-fi was a bit spotty at night but worked well throughout the day. Shopping, restaurants, antiques, nightlife, and just about anything else you want, are only about... More

The Kirklee is housed in a beautiful red-sandstone terrace in a peaceful residential quarter, yet only a ten-minute walk from the bustling Byres Road and Hill head subway station. (Even closer to the Great Western Road and the number 6 bus to the city centre.) Not much has changed in these buildings in over a century, which gives the Kirklee... More

Unfortunately I have to agree with some of the previous constructive reviews on here. Beds so soft you felt like you were sleeping on water, very dated rooms (we had one of the rooms at the top of the house) decked out in 70's furniture (not antique like it claims it wants to aim to do). This wasn't a cheap... More

This is in response to the very negative review from someone who stayed at the Kirklee Hotel at the end of Jan. 2015. Although I stayed there a few years ago, I can truthfully say that my stay was a delight. The ambience was in line with the type of "old" Glasgow houses found throughout the city. My room was... Owners Douglas and Rosemary are welcoming and helpful. Rooms quiet and full of character. Freshly cooked breakfast served in room. Beautiful lounge to relax in. A very enjoyable stay. Conveniently located close to restaurants and art galleries and the university.

Just spent 5 nights at this welcoming and no frills hotel. A very quiet location just a few minutes from Byres Road. Breakfast served in room bang on time is a really nice feature. The rooms are dated but for the price paid no more could be expected. Proprietor and chambermaid are really nice. An excellent base for a few... More

Stayed here 2 nights end of Jan 2015 and so disappointed. Wish I had taken heed of the negative reviews, which were actually all spot on. This is NOT a hotel. It is a very poor B&B at best and hugely over-priced. The rooms are small with the worst furniture I have seen - EVERYTHING creeks, the bed, the floor,... More

This review is completely unreasonable. Although I did not have the pleaseure of meeting this reviewer I did meet her partner on several instances. He was happy and cheerful on all occasions and did not indicate any problems or concerns even at check-out. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the centre of the West End, as can be... More

I stayed here 1 night whilst my daughter was in hospital. The room was comfortable but a little dated. Breakfast which was brought up to my room was excellent and there was plenty of tea and coffee available. If you ran out there was more in the very comfortable guest sitting room. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It... More
