Can only assume this must be a massively profitable hotel as the rack rate is high (reflecting the central location) but it's very clear no money has been spent on it since - oh, I don't know. The Coronation? Staff are generally pleasant. Breakfast is great. Everything in the hotel creaks because it was never designed to be centrally heated.... more

Will keep this short, this is the worst place I have ever stayed in. Been round the World and stayed in some strange Hotels but, this place is the worst. Charged £91 for the night and would have been better off slepping in the car. Still got Back problems Where the springs in the bed dug into all parts of... more

This hotel is very central so easy to get to from railway and bus stations with a huge shopping centre right opposite and easy walking to major attractions, shops etc. I booked over the Internet and got a single room price of £40 incl breakfast which I would say was really good value for money. The room was a twin... more

I should have known better and paid an extra £20 for a travel lodge or similar establishment. Probably the worst place I've stayed in. The bathroom had a very strong smell of sick. The furniture looks like it's out of a charity shop (30 years ago). The room was clean enough but the windows had brown drip stains on them.... more

Positive points are (1) central location; close to some good pubs, main line and subway stations, and a short walk to the (hard to find) bus station (2) a great serve-yourself breakfast (3) pleasant and helpful staff. On the negative side (1) it does need a good deal of attention to its decor and stained carpets, etc. (2) our room... more

Central location great for theatre, shops and restaurants but mid afternoon and nightfall brought revellers , drunks, gangs of youths and police cars around underground entrance opposite.Totally impossible to sleep. At 4a.m it sounded like shrill Triad gangs shrieking outside. This was midweek. I dread to think what weekends are like! I felt frightened walking back from theatre but had... more

Perhaps awaiting a bit of refurbishment but this clean and comfortable hotel had staff who were friendly and made you welcome. The rooms were clean and comfortable and a hearty breakfast provided. Right in the centre of trhe theatre and shopping area of Glasgow, the Buchanan offered good value for money. Perhaps it would benefit from a bit of redecoration... more

Best to start with the plus side - Location..and clean sheets, I have never been to a hotel where upon booking in the Receptionist doesn’t speak, a nod, a grunt and that was it when he passed over the key. The room itself was very tatty and looked like something from the Ark, but I have to say it was... more

Initial problems with web site meant that we booked twice - The site said it was unable to process a file (but it did). I don't think we have been charged twice (I was assured that this happens frequently and we wouldn't be - so why don't they fix it?). What the web site doesn't say is that it is... more
