I should have known better and paid an extra £20 for a travel lodge or similar establishment. Probably the worst place I've stayed in. The bathroom had a very strong smell of sick. The furniture looks like it's out of a charity shop (30 years ago). The room was clean enough but the windows had brown drip stains on them.... more

Positive points are (1) central location; close to some good pubs, main line and subway stations, and a short walk to the (hard to find) bus station (2) a great serve-yourself breakfast (3) pleasant and helpful staff. On the negative side (1) it does need a good deal of attention to its decor and stained carpets, etc. (2) our room... more

Central location great for theatre, shops and restaurants but mid afternoon and nightfall brought revellers , drunks, gangs of youths and police cars around underground entrance opposite.Totally impossible to sleep. At 4a.m it sounded like shrill Triad gangs shrieking outside. This was midweek. I dread to think what weekends are like! I felt frightened walking back from theatre but had... more

Perhaps awaiting a bit of refurbishment but this clean and comfortable hotel had staff who were friendly and made you welcome. The rooms were clean and comfortable and a hearty breakfast provided. Right in the centre of trhe theatre and shopping area of Glasgow, the Buchanan offered good value for money. Perhaps it would benefit from a bit of redecoration... more

Best to start with the plus side - Location..and clean sheets, I have never been to a hotel where upon booking in the Receptionist doesn’t speak, a nod, a grunt and that was it when he passed over the key. The room itself was very tatty and looked like something from the Ark, but I have to say it was... more

Initial problems with web site meant that we booked twice - The site said it was unable to process a file (but it did). I don't think we have been charged twice (I was assured that this happens frequently and we wouldn't be - so why don't they fix it?). What the web site doesn't say is that it is... more

Very outdated. Very tired decor. Felt dirty. Very noisy as you could hear conversation from outside, never mind late night pub goers! Wasn't impressed at all and in fact didn't end up staying. Quick shocked they wanted to charge £90 for us to stay to be honest! more

I stayed at the Buchanan back in July for one night and chose it predomniantly because of the location and also the price. I got a great deal for the sun night bed & breakfast and the location was excellent - right in the heart of Buchanan St. The hotel itself was very outdated and the smell in the lift... more

Stayed at the Buchanan Hotel last Saturday(10th May). Hotel in fantastic location 2 mins from train station and bang in the centre of Glasgow ideal for shopping and going out at night. The reception staff were really friendly and welcoming and rooms were basic but clean. I really dont know what people are expecting when they put bad reviews about... more
