I attended a conference being held at the Thistle, so it was easiest to stay at the same venue. My room was at the back of the hotel and on the forth floor, so I found it very quiet. The room was large and everything I could possibly need, apart from instructions on how to work the tv as the... more

When in Glasgow, avoid Thistle Hotel at all cost. It had to be the shabbiest, most tired and the dirtiest place ever offered to road weary travelers in our 15 day Trafalgar tour of Britain; I suppose we should have been forewarned by the thread-bare grimy carpets in the hallways. Our regret was reinforced by the disgusting huge stains on... more

Although the decor was rather revolting and not worth the obnoxiously high rates, the manager exercised good customer service. more

We were assigned this hotel by a tour facilitator; it was a one night stay in Glasgow before heading off to the Highlands. I booked a prior night on my own. The first night we received a refurbished (eigth floor room); the second a first floor room. Both were bland; the refurb wasn't even a marginal improvement. The food was... more

practical place, nice location and good check in. Stayed in one of the older rooms this time, twin bedded room, room good and big, pity the beds were a bit smaller. good spot for older football supporters and hotel was quiet and had a good sleep. - the fire alarm did activate and the staff were very good and left a... more

This hotel is currently being refurbished. We stayed in one of the un-refurbished rooms (no. 105), which had definitely seen better days. The view from the room was out onto a flat roof with noisy air handling units. When we arrived, dirty mugs had been left in the room and the bin had been emptied. A dirty towel was left... more

Me and a friend stayed in the Thistle two weeks ago. On arrival the reception staff where very friendly and willing to help with anything. When we got to our room, it was one of the rooms that had not yet been refurbished so it was a bit out dated but we didn't mind as we were going to be... more

I have stayed there before if I could get a good enough rate. Its convenient and central and the car parking is a bonus. The rooms last time were tired but acceptable. However, this time the room was beyond tired- broken bathroom fittings, even the pedal bin lid had been snapped off and not replaced. The cold tap allowed the... more

This hotel is close to Queen Street Station and other amenities and is pleasant enough, but the catering for a fringe meeting at a party conference was overpriced, with small portions and of poor quality. Colleagues who organised similar meetings were also disappointed by the catering, and catering staff kept interrputing the meetings. Most annoyingly, the hotel managed to make... more

Stayed here during travel trade fair, had renovated room on 7th floor. Rooms are well appointed and bright. Double glazing not great, shame lack of internal corridor door as could reduce noise from public corridor (slaming of doors). Wifi expensive and my blackberry had trouble keeping signal, otherwise goodnights sleep and work. Breakfast disappointing and hesitated about eating an evening... more
