I have been staying for a while and have found the place excellent. It is clean with a comfortable lounge, brilliant kitchen. Set in a nice area of Glasgow, it has excellent facilities close by. With a supermarket (5mins walk) Train station (rightg around the corner) with regular trains and just a walk or short bus to the busy West... More

I booked this hostel as a second option when I visited Glasow and finally decided to stay there. I travelled from Bahrain directly to Glasgow, so after a long flight I found the bed is much comfy. I booked deluxe twin room en suite which was excellent and gave me full privacy. Staff was welcoming and showed me all facilities... More

Lovely accomodation! Transport links are great with a train station just across the road and bus stops within 100 yds. The owner and staff is very welcoming and helpful. I noticed receiption open for almost all the day till late night. Rooms been clean everyday. Great victorian Building, although a bit away from city centre.

Stayed here as an adult supervising a group of kids - were reassured when booking by nice website and the apparent tourist board 4* grading (but now having checked, can find no trace of Alba on VisitScotland website). In spite of pre-booking, they guy on duty did not know our group of 14 were coming - he was pleasant but... More

Thank you "happytraveller21a" to bring a group of kids to our hostel on Feb 2012 I think. We are a member of VISITSCOTLAND for many years and granted 4 stars by them after checking our standandards. We were listed in the website for many years but recently as they upgrading the site so we will be back soon with our... More

The images and description online make this hostel seem like a gem in the heart of Glasgow. Unfortunatly it doesnt live up to this and it's important to realise that it is located 15-20 mins by train outside the city centre. The room we stayed in was drab and outdated, beds were lumpy and creaky and the plug sockets didn't... More

First off was living in the dorm, bed were comfy and it was quiet, you would get a peaceful sleep, they got lockers for you to put your stuff and the plus points was, you could lock it with your own padlock,. You also have access to the kitchen and the bathroom is great. Showers are forceful which is like... More

Staying in a hostel in Glasgow was potentially a dodgy decision, yet for cheap accommodation, you can't beat it. I stayed as part of a large group staying in Glasgow for a sporting competition. The Alba hostel was literally the last, cheap accommodation left in the city for the weekend, and I booked it hoping that it would be OK.... More

The building itself is nice enough, however the staff was extremely rude, unhelpful and even yelled at us when we asked to cancel a taxi that we had booked. They charge you for everything from breakfast to towels, and even charge a 5 pound deposit for a key to your own room. Breakfast was terrible, including half empty boxes of... More

Put simply, if you don't mind being a short train ride from the city center and don't require a social party atmosphere then you will not get a better hostel stay then at Alba hostel. It is an absolutely beautiful place: great lounge with big tv and comfy couches, big kitchen with functional equipment and top notch guests rooms. The... More

I have not expected so much comfort and hospitality for this very fair price and henceforth was very impressed. Also, the hostel has a touch of familiarity which doesn't make you feel as being a stranger. On the map, it seems to be farther away from city center but it truly easy to reach by Anniesland station (10 min on... More
