Smiths is a basic hotel. Mostly shared baths, but we paid extra for en-suites. Still only £45 per room with breakfast included. The place is a bit tired, but clean. The beds were comfortable. On the down side, there's no car park. We were lucky as it was a weekend & street parking was free. If it's a week day,... More

Stayed 2 nights on our way to the Highlands. We just wanted somewhere clean and cheap and that's exactly what we got. Our room was on the top floor and there is no lift however a member of staff carried our large and heavy bag up for us. The room was quite hot and we had to prop the velux... More

Simply awesome. I was reluctant at first while booking, as the reviews were far worst. However, my experience was quite different. Nice staff and nice food. Small but lovely hotel. Breakfast was fresh and staff were attentive.

I like this hotel which is 10-minute walking distance from the University of Glasgow which houses the wonderful free Hunter Museum showcasing scientific equipment used by great scientists. It is just 3-minute walk from breath-taking Kelvingrove Museum which has free entrance as well. The minute I entered this museum, I went "wow".. I felt I was transported to the set... More

Whilst staying at this Asian run establishment, the fire alarm rang for evacuation at Approx. 1am.The "NIGHT PORTER",sent out mixed messages about false alarm, however the majority of the Guests/Customers went out into the street rain, awaiting the all CLEAR.It turns out the gentleman was NOT able to do this, and obviously struggled to understand the Fire Alarm system.40 minutes later someone else arrived... Pity there is not a zero star option. The 'hotel' is more like a run down youth hostel which is fine if that is what you are looking for, but for £60 a night, a shared bathroom/toilet and shower room in this day and age is unacceptable! Room smelled and so did reception, sink was on a stand on two... More

This hotel booked our room for the wrong night, and then refused to give us the refund. They then laughed when I explained the legal implications of doing so - telling us they couldn't and wouldn't refund us. I asked to speak to the manager (who is coincidentally never available or on site) and was laughed at again. They wasted... More
