I stayed here for a weekend and it's just lovely. I had a wonderful time. The place has bright homely decorations, staff are friendly, and the common rooms are cosy. It's a fantastic place to meet people because it's not a big place and so people are very easy going. The kitchen was wonderful and so well stocked, I could... More

Rooms are very cramped with no space/lockers for storing your things. We were in a dorm where ppl appeared to be living long term so they had pretty much taken up all possible storage spaces. The kitchen was cramped and dirty also. Other than that, the lounge room, wifi, staff and location were great.

I was surprised when we arrived. The location is truly excellent, but other than that it was a bit of a disappointment. Pretty run down and in need of a remodel. Cleaning only goes so far. Much of the infrastructure needs to be replaced. The staff (Mike) was terrific. The 2nd floor bathroom needs a giant douche. The duvet that... More

Spent one night here recently on way through St Andrews. Good for one night and great central location. Found an on-street car park nearby. Hostel had all you would need and good sized kitchen and communal lounge area. Could do with being slightly tidier/cleaner. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I was worried about staying here after reading some of the reviews, but we had a great couple of nights. It is probably one of the friendliest places to stay in Scotland! We arrived having walked 27 miles and were exhausted. We showered; they were nice and hot, but the ceiling was all covered in mould so don't look up!... More

Having never been to St. Andrews it was a fantastic hostel to have stayed at for my trip, and have already recommended it to friends. Its so central, inexpensive, friendly, sociable, spacious, clean, flexible and fabulous! Absolutely worth booking a night or three.

St Andrews Tourist Hostel is the "best accommodation in town" is just one of many quotes I heard during my time at the hostel, and I am not going to disagree. It is extremely good value for money and the staff are efficient, helpful, polite and went beyond the requirements of the job to ensure everyone in the hostel had... More
