Booked online due to need to be in St Andrews at very short notice and having stayed previously with my company my expectations were high. Sadly disappointed by laclustre atmosphere, staff seemed quite unsure of their role and managers who seemed to be lacking in every department. I was unable to have dinner due to other commitments but if the... more

Just returned from a truly fabulous trip to St Andrews, and having chanced upon Rufflets, had booked a room there on spec. Even though we turned up without a booking, they could not have been more welcoming. Were offered a choice of two rooms, and went for room on the second floor over looking the lawn. We haggled aa bit... more

We booked Rufflets via a late booking site and opted for the luxury room at half price (£99 per night). First impressions on entering the lobby could have been better as there was a faintly unpleasant smell that lingered with us until we got used to it. We were taken to our room on the first floor - the downstairs... more

I was, as perhaps expected, disappointed to read this review, and we have clearly failed to deliver the expectations of this guest. Sometimes, things do not go well, and whilst there are background reasons as to the problems with hot water (or lack of it) on the day, do not want to make excuses, and the hotel has apologised for...

We were pretty disappointed with this hotel. It's advertised as a 4/5 star place but is not up to the task as the little details are lacking and the place is way over-formal. We stayed here for the weekend and were put up in the Gatehouse and not in the main hotel building. The room was standard, nothing special, with... more

Having stayed at Rufflets once before we were very excited to be returning to attend a party being held in the newly built function suite. As ever the we were greeted very warmly at the reception and shown to our room which was described as standard but was very plush indeed and immaculately clean. The hotel has a wonderful homely... more

Having stayed at the old course in st andrews before we were looking for something different and Rufflets fully exceeded our expectations. After an exceptionally quick check in with the helpful staff we were escorted to our turret room, number 5. Inspite of reading all about the rooms before we arrived on opening the door we were absolutely delighted with... more

I have travel a lot with my work and have to spend a lot of time away from home. I have stayed in some very expensive hotels with big names, however here at Rufflets I found a little piece of heaven! I stayed in room 25, which was descrided as a standard double, however there was nothing standard about it.... more

We (3 bridesmaids) arrived on a Friday afternoon sans car. One of our party asked if it was possible to walk to St Andrews from the hotel. The man at reception, who we think was the manager, said he was going to the bank and offered us a lift, which we greatfully accepted. This was the first of many examples... more

Had heard a lot about Rufflets, and finally got the chance to make the trip with my partner (me golfer - her not!). I suppose the fact that the weather was great was a bonus, but i have to say that Rufflets lived up to all expectations. They managed to sort out all my golf for me before i arrived,... more

We made a Scottish tour this summer and Rufflets was our last stay. I loved the place, especially the room that was spacious, furnished with a lot of taste and had a huge bathroom. Although, unlike the previous commentaries, we were very disappointed by the food: the starter was not delicate (chicken and fruit mousse) and the fish was way... more
