I have stayed in 5 Macdonald Hotels this month and this one is the best by far. Fabulously appointed. Wonderful staff (all Scottish!). Excellent rooms. Wonderful breakfast. Luxurious common areas. The hotel is right on the sea front overlooking the old St Andrews golf course. For me, this was the perfect hotel experience and exceeded our expectations. If Macdonald can... more

My trip was with a dozen women golfing friends, our club pro and his wife. We found ourselves in a wide range of accomodations. Some rooms were a dream come true for those who were a single and could look right out at the 1st and 18th holes of the Old Course. Those same rooms were a bit of trouble... more

We booked this hotel with a 50% off vocher that we had received from a previous stay at a Mcdonalds hotel. We arrived expecting that same standard that we had received at the other Mcdonalds hotel only to be disappointed. One of the great attractions of staying at this hotel had to be the location and view, sadly our room... more

There is no denying that the hotel enjoys an excellent location being so close to the historic Old Course. We had excellent rooms which allowed grand stand views of the 1st and 18th holes - the highlight of the hotel. Lunch in the hotel was both overpirced and of poor quality - go to the New Course Clubhouse twice as... more

The entrance, ground floor public rooms and the staircase were well-appointed, bright and spacious. The staff were personable and willing to help. My room was on the inside, overlooking the backs of adjoining properties. It was gloomy, but there seemed to be plenty of lighting. I later discovered that the 7 amp economy bulbs and the opaque lampshades provided little... more

Although we have stayed in St Andrews many times this was our first visit to the Rusacks. As it was our anniversary we decided to have a weekend away and obtained a very good internet deal for the hotel. I am giving my age away when I say I was immediately impressed by the old world charm of the building,... more

I have travelled a great deal and have stayed in accommodations ranging from the most elegant five star hotels to the most bare bones backpacker hostels across the US, Asia, Africa, and Europe, and hence have seen a wide range of service. This is the very first time I have found an establishment's service and care so poor that I... more

We stayed at this hotel for two nights having stayed at a trendy style hotel the previous evening. This hotel is not trendy in the respect of decor, however provides a well decorated traditional golfers style hotel. The location of this hotel is perfect and we payed for a upgrade to stay in a sea/old course view. I was initially... more

We stayed at the Rusacks for 3 nights, checking in on Christmas Eve and had a wondeful time throughout. Firstly the staff were so attentive and we appreciated that the friendly manager took some time out to chat to us and the other guests. Our room was upgraded to overlook the 18th hole which was a wonderful way to start... more
