Recently spent an overnight at Meldrums while attending a family wedding just outside St Andrews. Had initially booked a hotel in St Andrews but felt I couldn't justify paying St Andrews prices when I would barely be using the room. Stumbled across the Meldrums website and booked two doubles and one twin room at a rate of £75 per room B&B. The hotel is an old coaching inn and is very pleasant and cosy. Owners/staff were all very friendly and attentive. The rooms were all spotlessly clean and were decorated in red and cream which was very bright and cheery. The rooms all had an ensuite shower room, tea and coffee facilities and a small tv. There was also parking onsite. The only downside was that the soundproofing is not very good so I would recommend earplugs for a good nights sleep! I have given the hotel 4 out of 5 not on the basis of it being luxury accomodation but on the basis of it being a very pleasant and comfortable guest house/small hotel for those on a budget... more
