I visited Balbirnie House recently for a showround for a potential wedding venue and i can only say great things about it. We live in Cheshire so we stayed over the night before and from check in to check out the service was excellent. We ate down in the Bistro and the food was fantastic, and nothing was too much... more

Was dissapointed to arrive for a 2pm wedding and be advised that check in was not available until 2pm. This is their policy which I accept but it causes a problem when the wedding ceremony is at 2pm. I had to get changed into full highland dress in a public toilet. I was being pushed to be ready for official... more

We got married here in May 2009 and the day was absolutely amazing. Had a fantastic stay over in the honeymoon suite and the entire wedding was superbly organised by Balbirnies fantastic staff. No question was too stupid in the run-up to the wedding and they were amazing at suggesting oversights on our part, and helping to organise exactly what... more

We our in our late 20s ealry 30s and stayed at this hotel for a friends wedding at the beginning of March 09. The hotel itself is beautiful however some of the public areas look like seating areas of a residential home, its all patterns and mis-matched furniture, I am all for mis-matched chic but this was not it. Also... more

While visiting Scotland with a friend, I was anxious that she would have the experience of different venues and localities. I have stayed at Balbirnie, but ,my last visit was 5 years ago. Balbirnie House is an exquisite Georgian Mansion. It is located 45 minutes from the airport in Edinburgh. I was hugely disappointed in the interior, as it needs... more

Stayed overnight for dinner Bed & breakfast, with Champagne &Truffles on arrival. Staff very friendly. Food in The Orangery superb for Dinner although for breakfast, food was ok but not warm enough for me. Rooms, although spotless, could do with a makeover. Has nice touches. Heavy snow during night was cleared from our cars before we left by the staff.... more

Having stayed at the Balbirnie a year ago my expectations were high, but unfortunately this time I was a little disappointed. The building itself is grand, but the room I was allocated seemed in need of a little TLC. The bathroom looked tired with some lightbulbs not working, and there was evidence of a leak from above (water runs, damp... more

Just come back from a super wedding at the Balbirnie House, beautiful location and overall the wedding was great but front desk service was pretty awful at check-in. I was made to feel uncomfortable and like a second class citizen when my room was not ready. My room was okay, clean but pretty shabby and in need of a makeover.... more

A beautifully set hotel makes you feel you're in the middle of nowhere. A stately appearance inside and out, our room was also well positioned tp look over the gardens. The room was also grand with a four-poster bed, and a huge en-suite with a gorgeous tub. Booked as a package with DB&B, champagne and a deluxe room it costly,... more
