At first glance, this looks like your typical slightly dowdy B and B, but it's actually a bit of a gem. The decor may not be of the boutique hotel variety, but everything is clean and in good condition--the beds are comfortable, the rooms spotless, and the bathroom small but entirely serviceable. The owners, Jim and Doreen, are extremely friendly... more

We only spent one night at Davaar House and we were extremely pleased with our room, wishing we could stay longer. We decided to have dinner at the hotel and we were certainly pleased with that decision. At the appropriate time we went downstairs and we were directed to a lovely sitting room and bar. There we were given the... more

Hotel is situated a few minutes out of the main town centre, but still handy enough for the shops / train station etc. Jim, the owner is a fine and friendly host, and breakfast was excellent. Rooms were nothing spectacular, but very fairly priced, clean, tidy & well equipped so absolutely no complaints there. If I was in Dunfermline again,... more

My wife and I stayed here for two nights whilst attending a wedding at a nearby venue. The welcome and hospitality given by Jim and Doreen was a credit to Scotland. Our room was excellent. Lots of space and a great outlook. We didn't get a chance to sample the dinner menu, but the breakfasts were excellent and gave us... more

Just back from a very pleasant stay in Davaar House with my young family, ages 3 and 2. What a lovely warm reception we received. Both Jim and Doreen are extremely friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is charming. The beautiful lounge was relaxing and cosy and the lovely fire was a hit with the kids! Our room was tastefully... more

I often stay away from home on business, but this was a leisure trip, so perhaps I was looking for above average value for money - maybe impossible when the Welsh rugby team are visiting Edinburgh! This is very much a Guest House/Small Hotel aiming at the "above average/excellent" end of the market; Jim and Doreen Jarvis are clearly experienced,... more

I stayed with some colleagues here earlier in the week. Great welcome, really cosy lounge with bar and the food was fantastic. I suggest if you are on business, don't stay at a characterless hotel, head to the Davaar House Hotel - great value and welcome. more
