Tuesday Lunch with the family. Was interesting to see what the new owner had done with the place and menu. The food could not be faulted. Menu was like a bar menu ie: fish n chips, steak pie, scampi etc. We had all of these and all were delicious big portions. One of us had homemade soup for starter which... More

My wife and I visited the hideaway last night. We were delighted with service quality and quantity of food. I had a steak which was cooked to perfection and my wife had fish again cooked to perfection and obviously fresh. The owner and staff were very pleasant and helpful, I would recommend the Hideaway to anyone wanting a properly cooked... More

Decided to re-visit to find out what the new resaturant was like.I did check previous reviews but always like to make my own mind up,so not relying on either the bad or good reviews i did decide to go along and judge for myself. On entering there was a very slight damp smell but due to the building being closed for... We had dinner here last week and we really liked the food. It's only about 5 minutes from Halbeath Leisure Park, and it just reopened, so we thought we'd come here to give it a try. Some of our party used to come here on a regular basis and wanted to see what it was like after the renovations. It's... More

As per previous messages this used to be an excellent venue for a nice cosy meal. I decided to try the new venue and found it really bad. The food is extremely expensive for what you get. I also found the food wasn't that good and a bit tasteless. I certainly won't be returning.

Firstly, please note that The Hideaway has only recently reopened under new ownership and reviews prior to 2012 do not relate to the current owners and detract from the true average rating. My wife and I were pleased to see The Hideaway open again. We have enjoyed meals there a few years ago but it changed hands and went down... More

10 of us have just been for lunch today and everyone one had a great meal. All plates empty from starter to desserts to die for. My relatives that are up visitng from Engling were extremely impressed with the friendly welcome we received from all members of staff as they made us very relaxed from the minute we walked in... Myself and my husband went to the Hideaway tonight because of the recent reviews. We both had the steak pie after the comments. Unfortunately, there was only a small amount of steak and hardly any pastry. Really disappointing given the cost of £10.25! We could not fault the service; it was flawless. Efficient and extremely welcoming. However, we will not... More

Really nice place and really nice atmosphere, great service but what stood out for us more than anything was the quality of the food. We both had three courses and every one was very very good, for me the steak pie was one of the best I've ever eaten, and in this day and age when everyone is tryin to... More

Just visited the hideaway, after hearing a good review from a friend. We were really impressed! Everything is home made and to a high standard. I would recommend the steak pie, soup is also very good! This is a relaxing place with Very friendly service, really hope this place does well as there's not a lot of good places to... More
