A great place to stay in a smart part of Edinburgh. The Victorian swimming baths next door are wonderful. Very comfortable rooms and a welcoming host. Looking forward to staying again soon, this time with the family.

We recently stayed using a 2 for 1 offer voucher from the Guardian.B+B is a pleasant 15/20 minute walk from the station / Princess St and situated on a quiet street close to the suburb of Stockbridge which has several nice bars and restaurants if you dont fancy walking back into town. B+B was of a high standard with the... More

We stayed here for 2 nights last week using a 2 for 1 nights voucher from The Guardian. The stay was pretty much perfect. We were very warmly welcomed by the whole family. The rooms are located in the basement flat, so it is completely self contained. We were the only guests, so had the whole place to ourselves. A... More

We stayed in the smaller of two double rooms which turned out to be incredibly spacious. We had a king size bed and large bathroom. The room was impeccably clean. Location was perfect. 15 min walk to princes street but plenty of restaurants closer. Breakfast was great (yogurt, cereal, toast, tea/ coffee.) Will definitely recommend to anyone we know visiting... The family were extremely welcoming and the location was perfect - not much of a walk from the centre of town. We stayed in the double room: the bed was enormous and so comfy, and the bath was plenty big enough for two! It was luxurious. Breakfast was also first class with all of our needs catered for. We would... More

Excellent location for visting Edinburgh - ten to fifteen minutes walk to Princes Street. Double room was very spacious, clean and well decorated. Accomodation was in "down stairs" and breakfast in "hallway" but the contintental breakfast was very good. Good value for money for City B&B and although owner was not present staff were very pleasant and accomodating.

Very difficult to write this review as all that is said here is true BUT there is a 'but': Kasia who welcomed us and Lyn who served breakfast were both very friendly and welcoming (the owners were away on holiday at the time), the room was large, bed was comfortable and ensuite was great - all clean and comfortable. Simple... More

This is a wonderful place to stay on a quiet square in New Town. The hosts are lovely and helpful, as are the young women serving breakfast. The rooms are large and very comfortable with en suite bathrooms all. We will stay again!

This B & B had been recommended and we certainly were not disappointed. We stayed in the double room which over-looked the garden, had an incredible bed, extremely comfortable and the en-suite bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was healthy and delicious with a range of cereals, museli, fresh fruit, yogurt etc. The accommodation was first class, with your own separate entrance.... More

Have just returned from a 2-night stay and must recommend it as the most peaceful accommodation I have stayed in, in Edinburgh. It is well appointed and spotlessly clean; a good walk into town or a short taxi journey. Breakfasts are delicious - and healthy - served by Lynn who is a treasure! I shall stay again when I return... More

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighborhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighborhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
