Very dusty (don't even look into the closet), not very clean carpet and wouldn't feel comfortable walking barefoot, stained doors and tables, water tap in the sink broken, toothpaste marks on the mirror, towels stored unprotected directly next to the toilet (!). We stayed one night and didn't even use the shower as it simply didn't feel clean. Dining room... More

It's ok since the distance town isn't too far. Parking place was available and near to the house. The staff in the morning was super friendly!!!!! Breakfast was ok. The bathroom should be renovated as soon as possible.

I hate to be one of those people who moans about places online, but having been reduced to tears by the owner of this place and been upset to the point where I actually left and went to stay in a hotel, I felt it best to warn people. The owner should not be in a public facing job. He... More

I had a pleasant stay here. The décor my be a bit traditional / old fashioned, but the staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. All in all, good budget accommodation, I'd stay again.

We stayed here one night before heading off to the Highlands. It really has a low standard and a funny food smell. Very small room, clean and very good shower. The lady serving the breakfast is absolutely fantastic and charming. I will not come back here again though.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
