I booked two apartments here just last month for a hen party and both were fantastic in location and lovely inside. Handover to the appartments was fine but they forgot to mention that we were not aloud out the back after 10pm at night and the information sheet in the appartment was in a cupboard and we could not find... I was there last weekend with a group of 9 girls as a city base for going to Musselburgh races. We all had a fantastic time, it was a lovely, clean apartment in a great central location and we would definitely book again.

I stayed at 35b with friends at the end of jan 2014, there were 7 of us aged 35-40ish ;-). The apartment was absolutely lovely and suited our needs perfectly. Beds were very comfortable, and the lounge had enough sofas for everyone to have a soft seat after a nights dancing. The apartment was clean and equipped with everything we... More

I stayed in 37B over christmas and it was lovely. The apartment has 3 large double bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and everything we needed. The wifi was great. Very clean all over the apartment and very spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the pictures don't do it any justice. Its very central and we even had a private parking space... More

I rented 35b to use as base for my daughters wedding. I needed an apartment with plenty of space for the wedding day preparations. With 4 double bedrooms, 1 single room, 1 on suite and 1 bathroom this apartment suited our needs perfectly. The apartment is clean, comfortable and well equipped. It's located a few minutes walk from a Tesco... More

I stayed here with my wife during the fringe festival 2013. The location is fantastic and we enjoyed our stay. The views from our apartment was superb. The privacy excellent. The apartment was spacious, especially the living room. The quality of sleep was perfect with no disturbance whatsoever. Enough parking ( not that we needed it). House keeping good and... More

We had apartments 35b and 37b for 14 people. Having a shared communal access made it feel as though we were all in one apartment. The apartments were in a great location and spotlessly clean. Great decor and clean fresh linen. The wifi wasn't very strong, but they have just had a new router delivered to improve it. Would definitely... More

We, four adults and two teens, occupied 37b for 10 nights. The apartment, especially bedrooms, is very spacious. The kitchen is nice and properly equipped. The dining table has chairs for 6 but can seat only 2. The laundry machine is a joke as they are throughout Europe. As this was a 10 day stay, Sarah stated the apartment would... More

We have just returned from a weekend break in 6 Ramsay Gardens, what a lovely welcome from the girls they were very informative about the history of the house and took time to show us around. The house was very warm, cosy, and spacious for the 6 of us and having the extra bathroom with fab showers made a big... More

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
