We were disappointed with our stay, the room was a decent size but didn't seem very fresh. The ensuite was very small with a tiny shower and only 2 small sachets of shower gel supplied. After 2 days we asked for our towels to be changed as they were not drying (it stated in the room information that towels were... More

Enjoyed a long weekend break at this lovely guest house. John and Maureen were very helpful and attentive hosts. Sandilands is well situated for a short walk into the city, for those who don't want to walk there is a bus stop just outside the property. The twin room I shared with my cousin was comfortable, well appointed and spotless,... More

I've just got back from a lovely, long weekend in Edinburgh with my cousin. John and Maureen couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. We were in room 1 a small, spotlessly clean twin. The shower room is a bit small but perfectly adequate with plenty of hot water. The room is at the front of the house and although... More

We were very well received and assisted in our stay in Edinburgh. The owners were extremely attentive and even affectionate with us, offering an experience of welcome and safety. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, clean and well heated. The bathroom was small but it did not bother. The breakfast is basic but it is offered a wonderful... More

We visited Scotland in September, and the Sandilands was the first place we stayed. Our room (No 3) was amazingly comfortable and very nicely decorated, the breakfast was delicious and John offered some really helpful tips and ideas for our trip to the Highlands. Moreover, the location is very convenient, with bus stops right outside the B&B. You can even... More

Sandilands Guest House was my first B&B experience and I was not disappointed! John and Maureen were very welcoming, friendly and wonderful hosts. My room was not only comfortable but, charming as well, and had a view of their beautiful garden. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety and the full Scottish breakfast was delicious (also a first for me)!... More

I am a repeat Sandilands Guest House guest and I have come away from John and Maureen's hospitality well taken care of in all manner both times, they completely accommodated my reservations when I needed to make changes. My room was perfect for my needs and I didn't mind that the en suite was on the small side, I was... More

Our SECOND visit to magnificent Edinburgh and to Sandilands A warm welcome (as usual) clean and comfortable room and delicious breakfast. Perfect! What better location during the busy Fringe and Tattoo week, just a short bus hop into town and plenty of night buses for that late return. Now that we have found it we would not stay anywhere else... More

Rude, disorganised owners made this stay unpleasant. Firstly no record of booking, however we could produce email confirmation from them. They found it! Not happy that we had a van and continually asked us to move it. The shower and bathroom were ridiculously small, no even enough room to shampoo your hair. Seemed like the owners had a truly Scottish... More

If you look for a cosy place with lovely hosts and convienent to the city centre of Edinburgh, Sandilands is a perfect choice. Rooms are small but cosy, John and Maureen are friendly and caring hosts and serve a good Scottish breakfast. A bus runs directly opposite the house into town and back (1.50 GBP One way).
