I thoroughly enjoyed my night at the Royal Overseas League, in a good-sized room with a sitting area and a beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle. The location is perfect for walking around the New Town (and the Old Town is an short if uphill walk). The reasonable rate included a full Scottish breakfast: although my morning the service was a... I was lucky to find this hotel for an excellent price during the week. It was a single room which was small (however, expected), but overlooking the castle. The breakfast was really nice with a attentive waiter, the restaurant also has an amazing view. This is not a luxury hotel as the name may imply, but the location is perfect,... More

Visited through a living social deal my friend and I. Staff in the hotel attentive and made us feel welcome. Afternoon tea included in our booking pleasantly surprised . Scottish breakfast was served freshly prepared and again polite and well mannered waiting staff. Fantastic views of Edinburgh Castle as we were situated on the front. Overall the hotel is good.... Meeting friends in Edinburgh for a special occasion we wanted to be central so looked on the internet for something special. This hotel came up, the name sounded grande, the pictures were of lovely pale blue and beige rooms, a grande sweeping staircase and an impressive building. We booked a suite which was £250 per night... We were so very... More

Don't know why this hotel is ranked 49th in trip advisor Edinburgh Hotels. We stayed for 2 nights, one night before and one after coming back from Isle of Skye. Stayed in September & room was very hot. there is no AC, opened the window & there was so much noise that it felt that we were sleeping on the... More

The hotel is in best location. Princess street. You could find foods and shopping all easily. And our room could see castle directly from the windows. The room is clean. Good enough. Not luscious. There is free wireless as well. My family have 2 good night sleep. We lived on the 5th. Floor. The elevator goes up to 4th. Maximum.... More

Got 2 nights midweek in this VERY Central hotel. Right in the middle of Princes Street in Edinburgh 20 rooms and recently refurbished but still has the feel of a comfortable sitting room. Very friendly staff. The view from the Bar and the restaurant of the Castle and the Gardens is amazing. Our room was at the rear (18) and... More

I joined a colleague here for two days. The rooms are very pleasant with great views of the Castle and Princes Street Gardens and the tattoo's fireworks. Breakfast which is included in the price includes a range of choices. The fantastic "Edinburgh Grill", kippers or the usual international breakfasts. Reception staff are most helpful at suggesting restaurants and activities. Would... More

Reasonably priced hotel about 100m from the main train station, nothing special but good location, you get a great view of Edinburgh Castle from the restaurant, clean and largish rooms. Its run by a very old British colonial style organisation, jacket in the restaurant and all that
