Recently spent two lovely nights here with my Mum. Location is fantastic tram from the airport almost stops outside hotel. Staff were lovely to deal with from start to finish, friendly and welcoming throughout seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help you. Breakfast was good both mornings with plenty to eat however some pastries would have been nice.... More

We just stayed for a night in a twin room overlooking a depressing courtyard. The decor in the room was nice but the bathroom and the room were in need of a good clean and maintenence. Excellent location, receptionist was very pleasant and helpful.

First time in Edinburgh . Had hire car and found it almost impossible to get to. Only 15 min parking around corner. Tried to ring hotel to get directions, but phone kept ringing out. Room was very poor with old bed. Staff were OK. And breakfast was good. Position good.

i needed a hotel close to Rabbies Tours, a place where I could relax after an overnight flight but still see sights of Edinburgh. I could not believe that I got a room with a view of the Edinburgh Castle which towers over this beautiful city. I was able to walk to the castle the day I arrived and also... More

I had stayed here on the night of Good Friday and had booked the room 2-3 weeks in advance and chose this property specifically because of its proximity to the royal mile and a view of the castle. I checked in at around 10:00 PM. In fact, I had put in a request to be given a room with a... More

I belong to the ROSL club in London ant it is very good so I decided to use their facilities in Edinburgh and the experience was really satisfying. The club is very well positioned, 5 minutes walk from the train station, on the main shopping street. From there, you can walk to the museums, such the National Gallery and the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights Bed & Breakfast. The breakfast was first class with a good menu. Our room was at the front 3rd floor. Room 2 and overlooking the Castle. It was our Wedding Anniversary so we had Evening Dinner on one night. It was first class. If you ask for this room and a light sleeper you... More

This hotel is in a great location right in the middle of Princes St, we had a room at the front of the hotel and although it was a little noisy at night, the fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle made up for it! The room was quite small but was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom had new shower fittings.... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
