This hotel is in an amazing location in the middle of princes street. Our room had a view of the castle which was an added bonus. The room was a good size and the it was quite a traditional style hotel. Tea and coffee facilities (always good!) and it was clean. The food was also really good at breakfast. Fresh... More

Couldn't ask for a better location right in the middle of Princess St and only a stones throw from the train station. Breakfast is all freshly cooked to order, a wide selection to choose from and can't be faulted. Staff were so helpful and knowledgeable on anything that was asked. We had room 1 which is at the back so... More

Booked using a website, the price was very reasonable for the location - on Princes Street and looking out towards the Castle. The entrance was unprepossessing and not attractive, between two shops. The room was at the top of the building, on the 5th floor. The lift only went to the 4th floor. There was a sloping roof in the... More

Me and my Mam stayed here for 2 nights after purchasing a deal on Living Social. On arrival we found the staff welcoming and we had booked our inclusive Afternoon Tea which we had in the bar area. We were amazed at the size of the Afternoon Tea and staff were very accommodating with our dietary requirements and letting me... More

The location is the best Edinburgh offers. I would place the hotel between average and very good. Staff are excellent and the breakfast is superb. However, the rooms, although clean and relatively comfortable, are in need of some upgrading. If you are using a voucher deal it's good value as its so convenient for all attractions and amenities.

Went with my wife for one night on 15th February 2015. Booking in was easy staff on reception very helpful. We stayed in room 3 overlooking Princes Street with a wonderful view of the castle. Afternoon tea was lovely. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever used. The room was fine and had all the necessary facilities.... More

First of all the location is excellent, especially if you come by train, just wish i'd know how good it was before we walked from the station. It's not a long walk however there are both bus and tram stops right outside so we could have saved ourselves a 10 minute walk but the weather was good so hardly a... More

Bought this on a deal for an overnight stay bed and breakfast and it included afternoon tea. Firstly the receptionist was so friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome. We had a nice room with a view to the castle. Lovely bed with fresh, crisp linen, great bathroom with plenty towels, well stocked tea tray, with water and shortbread.... More

I stayed here under a deal on woucher and it was fabulous value. The hotel is old, (but that's obvious) so its not a surprise, and yes, it is a little tired in places. But our room was immaculate, we had a room at the front with the most spectacular view of the castle and gardens. Our room was warm... More
