Simply - a perfect place to stay. Clean, friendly, accomodating, great breakfast. The little touches - that means I have come back again and again - the first week, i asked for a mug - every week one is in my room. They noted I ironned my shirts Monday evening - so every week the iron and board are setting... more

I love this place - I stay regularly, and it's always just right. I've stayed in most of the rooms now, and apart from the singles being a little compact, they are comfortable and well-equipped. You can park on the street (a big plus in Edinburgh), and either walk along the water of Leith walkway (a scenic and peaceful 25... more

Very comfortable guesthouse. Rooms spotless, large and well appointed. Bed comfortable. Breakfast generous, tasty and well cooked. Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel is 200 metres back from main road (makes it quiet), easy reach of busses to town and 10 mins walk from Murrayfield Stadium. more

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at the Criagelachie! We got into Edinburgh at 10 am and someone was there to let us check-in. The rooms we stayed in were bright, clean, and very comfortable, and best of we had wonderful breakfasts. The only drawback is the location, its a bit outside the city, so the local bus... more

We were a group of seven who visited Scotland in May 2008. We stayed the last day in Edimbourgh and we spent the night at Craigelachie Hotel. In this little hotel the atmosphere was unique, beautiful. The accommodation was perfect. The rooms was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. No word could explain the surprise the next morning at... more

I had stayed here a couple of years ago with a friend and found it very cosy and welcoming during a very cold and wet December and both single rooms were very comfortable. This time I stayed three nights with my husband. We were warned the room (No 3) was a small double but it was still fine for us... more

I originally booked this hotel based on the prices, its uniqueness, and the distance away from the city center. I find that smaller hotels outside the main city area are better, more friendlier, and just absolutely lovely. Location - I took the sleeper train from London and when it arrived it was 7am. I decided to walk to the hotel... more

Can't say enough good things about this place! From the welcome when I arrived late in the evening, to the wonderfully comfy bed, the shortbread on the tea/coffee tray, and one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had - the fruit platter is a meal in itself, and you can't stay here without trying it! Will gladly recommend, and... more

Victorian townhouse run like a B and B but with a reception area and a night clerk like a hotel. Quiet street. Elegant reception area with impressive staircase. Room decor okay - furnishings more modern with pine furniture. Clean with tea tray and biscuits. Bathroom was very clean and a reasonable size. Heat is turned off to room through the... more
