A very nice place to stay. I liked the location: it's about a 15 min. walk to Princes St., a 5 min. walk to the Royal Botanical Gardens, just a few minutes to the Water of Leith walkway, 10 min. to New Town, 20 min. to the Royal Mile. There is also easy bus service nearby--the staff will direct you... More

Simone and the other staff were all very helpful and friendly. Going out of their way to make sure my stay was a good one. The breakfast is great, the buffet is available and you can also order off the menu, eggs, hashbrown, beans, mushroom etc Excellent wifi - good speed and is now available in the rooms too. The... We spent 3 nights at the Dene Guesthouse after a 3 weeks touring the Highlands. It was the perfect place to end our Scottish holiday - great room on the ground floor with a big picture window looking on to the garden, great breakfast and an enjoyable walk to Edinburgh Old Town and into Stockbridge which we loved. Staff were... More

We stayed here for two nights while doing a driving tour of Scotland. The room we were in was a very nice size, and very quiet, and the en suite bathroom had a nice shower. The location was fantastic! We walked about a mile up to the castle, but the bus would have been easily accessible if we had wanted... More

Every guest house or hotel should have a Simone! She is the manager of Dene and is exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful - in the best tradition of Scots hospitality, although she is German! (Her English is excellent). My room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Nice modern TV, good tea-and coffee-making facilities and a well-appointed en suite bathroom. Good... More

The owner lets you feel as if you were staying in your own home. The room was spotless, the whole hotel was extremely clean and the breakfast was great. Location may not be the best, pretty closed to the new town, but not much to the old town, however if you're not into walking the busses are running quite often,... More

This was a great place to begin our trip in Scotland - very clean, and friendly staff. It was an easy walk to all the attractions in central Edinburgh and the train station. Breakfast was great! The building is older, but rooms are decorated in a modern style. We had a room at the front of the guest house, facing... More

I stayed at Dene's Guest House for 3 nights and what an absolute gem of a place. I received a warm welcome from Simone. Rooms were spotless and superbly maintained and despite the temperature being in the mid twenties in Edinburgh the room was cool and comfortable at night. The location is superbly near the shops and other amenities in... More

This comfortable guest house is extremely well-located near the Botanical Gardens and Stockbridge. The city's convenient bus service is just steps away. Staff at the Dene are friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere is informal, and there is a lovely common room for eating and relaxing. Breakfasts were up to the fine Scottish standard. A great base from which to... More
