I read the review of Sdewhirst 21 July 2009 and thought, What a pity! He stayed at the wrong Pillars House in Edinburgh! My daughter, granddaughter and I travelled from western Canada to Edinburgh in late November 2008 and stayed 8 days at the real Pillars House. We enjoyed the breakfasts made by Fillipo and the cosy family atomosphere, sharing... more

During our extended trip to the UK we stayed in approximately 30 b&bs and hotels. Every time we talk about our accommodation during our visit, Pillars House is the first place we mention. It was absolutely the most friendly atmosphere, especially breakfast time around the big table in the kitchen where we met other travellers from all over the world.... more

My friends and I spent almost an entire week at the Pillars B & B in September 2008 and could not have been happier with our stay. The breakfasts were delicious and varied with our hosts serving as the entertainment. The rooms were clean, the location was good (public transport nearby), and the people were fserviceable and friendly. Truly one... more

We stayed at Pillars House as part of weekend trip for the Tattoo and the Festival on the recommendation of others on this site and I've got to say that it deserves every positive comment that it gets!! We knew that we were going to enjoy this place from the minute of our (early) arrival when were invited to join... more

We can't say enough good things about the Pillars House. While we weren't used to staying in B&B's and were a bit nervous we were truly conforted and welcomed by Edna, Fillipo, and the entire staff at Pillars. From the beautiful building, to the wonderful room, and the exqusite breakfast, our stay (or 3 nights) couldn't have been better. Edna... more

I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast and was a little nervous at first, but once we got there Edna put us at ease. Upon checking in she gave us maps and explained which sights to see and what buses to take to town. We were in the family room and this room has one double bed, two... more

We stayed for two nights during the Edinburgh festival. The Pillars House is a bit of a Paradox. You go up the stairs into a huge entrance hall with a staircase that’s three stories high. So first impressions are that it’s a huge place. We were met by Edna who at once put us at ease and made us feel... more
